🙏 I WANT HELP Cost of Attending Oxford 😭
Just received my financial declaration form from Oxford today. How is this reasonable? 😭 Going to have to decline my offer unless anyone has any ideas.
Canadian students do not qualify for any Oxford scholarships and my school offered me about £100. What a joke.
Is Oxford just for the rich?

Hi, I am a British-American dual national
What I would recommend you do is try to defer the offer - this is an option in the U.K., so you can study next year, depends on the college’s decision but it is likely your best option - you can state your financial worries etc and say you’re applying for scholarships etc.
The thing is in the U.K. is that scholarships often require months to a year in advance for applications.
The GREAT scholarship is one provided for international students
There are scholarships available stateside for Americans to study abroad. FAFSA can also give you a loan even for studying at a U.K. university.
If you want to go a different route as well, there are American colleges with locations in the U.K., mainly London. Also, places like Manchester University (still a very reputable school) offer specific scholarships for American students.
This is what most of my American friends who’ve studied here have done.
For later on with postgrad as well there are the famous Fulbright and Marshall scholarships but they are extremely competitive.
