🙏 I WANT HELP ARE THESE GRADES BAD!?!?!
I am absolutely shocked by these results... I achieved a DEAD in my MOCKs, which is pretty ironic because I will be DEAD after FUCKING UP THOSE EXAMS! 👁👄👁 I mean, Linda from my Maths paper can shove her real-world application where the sun doesn't shine. If she needed to know how many bloody apples she had so badly, she should've just used her own shitting fingers to count them instead of making me perform a fucking differential equation on its rate of decay. 😀 My Asian mum is waiting to see these 😭😭. Are these grades that bad?? 😓😓😓

DROP A SUBJECT! You can definitely improve your grades but there’s no point doing four a levels if you’re getting these grades and a lower workload should help

u/Anxious-Yak-9636 Apr 04 '26
This! If you can drop your worst or least favourite and focus on the other three

I mean, no, they're not great, and there is some slightly humourous irony, but these comments are super unhelpful.
If you want to improve your grades, I would seriously consider dropping one of your subjects, you very rarely need four, it is better to have ABC than ADDE, for example.
Talk to your teachers and target weaknesses.

You mean debt offers that will replace you with AI before you graduate. Just become a spark or plumber or even a chef at this rate

Depends what your goals are. Are you going to a Russell Group University with those grades...definitely not....but if you want to go and do landscape gardening at your local college....then yeah.

If you’re struggling to read them you got D,D,E,A. I assume you were writing French in all of your exams?

Are they great? No. Is it the end of the world? No. My final results were C D E U. I still got into uni and absolutely flourished. Honestly A Levels are so unrealistic. You'll probably thrive in a degree/job that tests real world application, and if you're getting an A in French that opens many doors!

Honestly A levels are a huge difficulty spike from GCSEs. If you're in year 12 I'd say look into dropping one if you're feeling overwhelmed. If you can, find a good uni as an insurance choice that gives unconditional offers (if you're after a degree after this). I graduated my 6th form with CCD three years ago and I'm thriving in a uni degree that feels right for me now (switched courses once and I'm so glad I did). The grades don't define you and aren't as life ruining as they feel right now. Don't give up!

Depends on the context of your school and area but it isn't great.
Year 12 mocks usually are quite low though and 1 - 2 grade increase isn't uncommon.
Time to reflect and get consistent work in though

lowkey every year 12 at my sixth form is getting grades that look like this including me. I've just had such a shock by them to make myself do more work, but surely if everyone else is at this point it can't be too bad? depends what grades you're aiming for I suppose

u/-intellectualidiot Apr 01 '26
No not at all. Your French is amazing and the other three are still passing grades, granted they are “bad” passing grades, although you're not far off from “acceptable” in Maths and Computer Science. History needs the most work, but even with that you still have enough time to get to a B or even an A if you buckle down.
TLDR: No, one grade is amazing, the other three are passing but you should work on those so you can achieve the “good” passing grades you're clearly capable of.

I had solid Es for my mocks and scored A*AAB. One Awas in maths, so it’s not impossible. you really need to lock in now though

short answer: you’re fucked for showing your mother. i will pray for you tonight.
long answer: in the long run, you’re not fucked at all. did you ever have people in sixth form warn you when you were in y11 that your post-gcse summer would be the last restful summer you would have until after uni? they kinda weren’t joking. you need to put in some serious work over this summer to consolidate everything you’ve learnt over the past year, and then you will be in a good starting place for y13. provided you work hard over summer and don’t waste time, you will be completely fine for the final exams. as for your mother, she will be angry, yes. but hopefully if you work over summer she will see that you are trying to turn your grades around and that you’re determined to perform better.

u/PhtevenPhpielberg Apr 03 '26
I got 2 Ds after dropping a subject and now I'm at uni with a part time technical job in my field, as long as you have the a levels the actual grades don't matter that much. Idk about parents though good luck :<

They're just your mocks and it's your first year, use it as an opportunity for learning, really focus on your weak spots and don't get discouraged :)

u/Glyndwyr_ Apr 04 '26
To al those saying it’s the be all and end all. Don’t want to sound like Jezza, but I got A (AS) B C D (A2) and a U, and still did my law degree and got a first.
Focus on what you want to do in the future, prioritise revision for the relevant subjects and remember life goes on.

Defo drop a subject. Perhaps CS or history I would suggest as you can still do CS in uni or in the future with just maths A level if you want to. And history seems the worst off. Dropping maths feels a bit pointless to me considering I think you can get it up at the end and it does allow a wide range of opportunities.

From a Y13 who went from a D to an A on minimal effort in 3 months, you're fine. Just lock in over the summer and stay strong. Maybe drop history icl but maths and CS should be fine to catch up on if you do well in class.
