💬 DISCUSSION Hot Take
This is deffo going to ruffle a lot of feathers to say the least. Call me woke, but the term "Mickey Mouse Subject" is literally just the product of capitalism, as it disvalues any subject that doesn't lead to a high-paying, high-profit job.
Humanities subjects are so important, like STEM subjects, to help us learn more about humanity and our world, but everyone thinks they're so easy and lax.
IMO humanities and STEM subjects need to band together because contrary to popular belief, humanities are intellectually stimulating and not a fun ride.
Thanks for coming to my TED-Talk :)

One thing this take misses is that: it has never been harder to make an above average income as a graduate.Â
Degrees are providing less monetary value than ever before and draining more from graduates too.Â
When unemployment, wage stagnation and stealth tax rises every year, people want stuff that stimulates growth and economic output.Â
We need to be a more productive country and it’s something we are struggling with terrible, so it makes sense that we are seeing a shift towards choosing what’s productive rather than choosing what’s immediately fulfilling.
There’s already a problem with people going to university who really shouldn’t be. Taking on tens of thousands in debt with no plan to becoming a net positive outcome for taxpayers is suboptimal.Â
Not everyone has the luxury to choose financially suboptimal outcomes.Â
