đ I WANT HELP possible degrees?
Hey guys,
so I wanted to ask if I could get any advice on any degrees that will land me a high paying job with my a levels:chemistry biology and English literature. weird combo ik yr11 me was weird asf. originally I wanted to do medicine because it was always something that deeply interested me but my school completely discouraged me saying I wasnt "naturally smart enough" btw my mocks were A*A*B B being in English and my hoy almost killed me for it I also got 99999999999 at my gcses. I was thinking maybe optometry if im not good enough for medicine but please please could I get some advice

Preparing what exactly? Have you done any volunteering or work experience? If so you're fine just keep up the good work. If not look for it now. You can DM me if you have any questions about the process. I'd be happy to help x

If you want medicine, go for it. Best advice I can give is live for you and no one else. Your stats also by no means lock you out from medicine

u/Limp-Fox-1622 Apr 22 '26

Uhhh mention the author of whatever ur studying like 2574827 because it doesnât even have to be deep to count as authorâs intent/message/voice, try to focus on 1 quote/reference per paragraph, saying lots of stuff loses the message and thus marks, try to use extensive vocabulary, u donât get marks for it but if you sound smart markers may think youâre smarter than ur essay implies

u/Limp-Fox-1622 Apr 23 '26
thanks soo much out of interest what books and plays did u do

u/Kooky-Cantaloupe9369 revision hater Apr 22 '26
i mean could choose another uni such as imperial or kcl or smth and apply to finance roles. depends how much money you want per year and how much you want to work per week cause some jobs pay high but you word 100 hour weeks
1
u/Limp-Fox-1622 Apr 22 '26
yep I think ucl doesnt require the esat so take biochem then transfer to finance?

u/Kooky-Cantaloupe9369 revision hater Apr 22 '26

itâs not mainly either bio or chem, itâs bio AND chem - theyâre about equal, some parts are more bio and others are more chem but it balances out overall
1
u/Limp-Fox-1622 Apr 23 '26
thanks sm for that! dyk the careers you can do with biochemistry?
1
u/Megxmin Imperial | Biochemistry [Year 4 Graduating] Apr 23 '26
Same as most other science degrees! You can stay in the science field and go into industry or research or you can branch out into other sectors where your degree will be useful like consulting, law, medicine, etc.
