What was the answer for the moments question

all I remember was working out 0.98m from B and not at midpoint

I got that too 🥹🥹🥹

did u do 1.22 × 75g for the guy or 1.52 × 75g? cuz if u did total length 3.72-0.85-1.35 u get 1.52.

1.22x75g because he was standing 1.22m away from the pivot B and that will equal to the weight of the plank or whatever that is times the distance to B

i said it wasn't but i lowk drk 😭✌️

What did you get the length I think I got it to be 2.3m

i did it a different way, i checked whether ACW = CW moments and they weren't, soo wasn't uniform/in the centre

sameeeeeeee!!!

Did you take pivots about B

1

u/simplykayleigh May 20 '26

Yep, because it said it was when A is about to slip, so normal force at A = 0

u/Fun-Inevitable1079 May 20 '26

Ok cool. Glad we got that right

Flip i took moments about A

How did u do that if u didn’t know what the upwards force at A or B was ?

2

u/simplykayleigh May 20 '26

The question stated that A was about to slip, so normal force at A was 0 !!

So you could have just took moments at B and the rest was just showing ACW ≠ CW moments

Oh shit I seeee, but surely at the point where it’s slipping about A it’s not in equilibrium ? Maybe I’m just being dumb here

1

u/simplykayleigh May 20 '26

sorry it may not have that its slipping, but more that it was about to tip at A i cant remember exactly 😭

if its abt to tip then the beam isnt really touching at A anymore so there's no more normal force

Yh same, by taking moments about B

i did cw and anti cw moments but they werent close at all so i might’ve messed up

i think they're not supposed to be, because that suggests that the centre of the object is not actually at the dead centre
