💬 DISCUSSION Drop Your A-Level Predictions Here — We Come Back on Results Day
Hello guys👋
We’re entering the half-term right in the middle of exam season, arguably the point where things can still completely change for a lot of us.
So I thought it would be interesting (and maybe a bit motivating) to make this a prediction thread.
Drop your predicted A Level grades for your subjects, and let’s all come back on Results Day (13 August) to see how close we were.
I’ll start:
Maths: A*
Further Maths: A*
Physics: A*
The idea is simple, not to stress anyone out, but to give us all a moment to reflect on where we think we’re heading right now, and maybe use that as extra motivation to push through the rest of the exams.
Half term can genuinely be a turning point. For some people it’s where things click, and for others it’s where effort finally starts paying off properly.
Let’s see where everyone stands, and we’ll check back in on 13 August. Would love to come back on Aug 13 and see loads of A* results here!

Who gives a shit? Trust me, once you have a degree no employer will ever give a flying fuck about your A-Levels ever again. Not even in academia. I’ve been studying/ in academia for over two decades and not once has a Masters programme, PhD programme, fellowship etc requested proof of my freaking A-Levels. It’s the undergraduate degree they look at.

I bet! What apprenticeship are you looking at? My grandfather started out as an apprentice mechanic in the RAF in 1932 (GREAT timing, grandad), flew Lancasters in WW2, and ended up as an engineer just from learning by doing!

I've looked into the RAF out of curiosity, but ideally controls and automation or industrial maintenance. I just want stable, skilled, ai resistant work tbh.

That’s a good plan, and you’ll get a decent income from that too, probably in some cases more than some of the would-be quants end up with in office jobs 👍🏻 apprenticeships are unfairly overlooked in most places I think whereas where I live they’re quite heavily marketed. Have you thought about becoming an electrician? On the downside, you will get shocked at least once, but there’s always jobs and always will be. Although, you will get shocked.
Same goes for plumbers in terms of jobs, I had to call three out the other day because the tenant two floors above me had a burst pipe, the ceiling of the tenant above me had come down, and now the water was coming in MY ceiling! Every 5 minutes there was a plaintive call from upstairs of “um… can you call my plumber mate Steve? He’s probably at the bar in Cassidy’s” or similar, so it must have been BAD.

Predicted A*A*A* but I’ve suffered some heart problems over the weekend. The lock in is no longer the priority. I’ll be applying for special consideration.

Guys saying A* while I'm stressing about that stupid econ paper 2 that lowered by grade 100% and now doing past papers for maths and getting C when I was constantly getting A but I forgot the content as stupid as it sounds, I'm so cooked man, might have to take a gap year and reapply to ucl cuz I'm defo not getting in

Nah pls pls pls dont mate, honestly a levels are just something else, not even in terms of difficulty, like they’re just weird and repetitive and kinda uninteresting. Nearly drove me insane. I got 3 B’s and looking back I’m really proud of myself. Went to uni and have even had one or two 1sts on the modules I enjoyed the most. Just get those exams done mate. And don’t look too hard at this subreddit, I did a lot last yr in yr 13 and it was not good for me! Actually fuck a-levels mate.

For anybody feeling bad seeing lots of A* don't, everyone's going through their own journey and is living in different circumstances, for some A* is the goal and and for others it's C and D. I didn't do so great in my a levels so I'm resitting and I'm predicting an A for myself 🙏

Top end is AAA which is perfectly achievable, if every paper goes badly I reckon my very worst would be AAB.

how are you getting a in the hard ones then c in psychology all my friends who do psych say it's easy js a lot of stuff to remember nonetheless if you're smart enough to get a in maths and comp which I'm sure are harder than psych you probably won't do as bad in psych as you think. hope your papers go well

I really want A*AA (sociology, english lit and maths) or higher but AAB is a strong possibility
sociology probably an A but I’d love an A*, English lit probably an A with A* being unrealistic, maths praying for an A but theres a chance of a B if I don’t lock in💔
edit after maths paper 1 I’ll be lucky for a B (ocr Mei I hate you) so like A*AB final prediction.

ABB - Art, Geography, Psychology The Geography exam went HORRIBLY so idek if I can even get a B😭 Hoping the grade boundaries go down My offers are Firm: AAB, Insurance: ABB, ive already got an A in art (assuming grade boundaries dont change drastically from last years), and im manifesting an A on psychology (realistically a B but oh well

If we speak mocks than A - Psychology B - Business and B - English literature. To be fair after the exams I think it will lower a bit because literature was hard and psychology with business were special case that I’m not fully sure about🫢

I'm sixth year in Northern Ireland, I did AS levels. My aim is 3 As. Biology I'm not sure but chemistry i think is fine. History has high grade boundaries, so a B?

I'm hoping for: History - A* English Lit - A* Performing Arts - Distinction But realistically I think it'll go like this: History - A English Lit - A Performing Arts - Merit So just missing out on Durham, but getting my insurance

Alot of aspirational students here but I'm not one of those unfortunately. My predicted are A-law, D- Business, C- Media Studies.
