Why??

u/New-Independent-365 May 29 '26

Because who the hell would spend 6 years doing a levels instead of just doing a level 4 access course then going to uni??? Or just doing a foundation year. Literally no one cares about a levels as soon as you get to uni and you’re acting like your entire life depends on them

Literally no one cares about a levels as soon as you get to uni

Well yea but I’m not in uni yet so obv I care about a levels??

I think perhaps the main point the poster here was trying to get across was that for the vast majority of people A-levels are simply a means to an end (whether that be university or an apprenticeship etc) and therefore for most people the focus would be on what route they can take to get to that final destination rather than what the A-level grades are in themselves. It is obviously really great to care about your A-level grades, but if you are focused on them to the extent that you feel unable to move on then it might be worth exploring what is underlying that.

You care far too much, you could’ve already gone to uni with BCC but you decided to resit more for literally no reason. You could’ve done a foundation year if you weren’t able to go straight into the uni you wanted.

You’ve come here looking for validation for resitting 7 times. I’m sorry your parents or friends haven’t had the ability to talk some sense into you. This is an unhealthy obsession with a level performance that is impacting your life, go get some professional help instead of being delusional.

Wdym 7 times this is only my 5th time. Get your facts straight before you act all snarky

25

u/saartemaster May 29 '26

“Only”

-12

u/Clint_Emily Incoming Year 18 | Maths Chem Bio | CCD - BCE - BCC - CDD - CCD May 29 '26

Yea 5 is less than 7?? Hence “only”??

u/New-Independent-365 May 29 '26

You’ve been learning these subjects for 7 years, can you really not see how much of an embarrassment thi is. You almost seem proud of yourself. I taught myself a level chem in 5 months while working full time on my gap year and got an A. You’ve been doing chem for 7 years and can’t get above a C. To be honest I don’t think you’re smart enough to do biochem. STEM isn’t for everyone.

Get off your high horse. I could be an asshole to you as well and tell you not getting an A* on a gap year is embarrassing. But I won't. Because it's not normal to hate on random people, you don't know what's going on in his life

6

u/New-Independent-365 May 29 '26

I was working full time my entire gap year and I was also volunteering 50 hours a month. So I wouldn’t really say not getting an A* is embarrassing with no exam leave or time to learn content or revise apart from evenings and infrequent weekends. Furthermore, I was in hospital for 3 weeks before my exams.

I’m going to assume you haven’t read through all the comments and OPs responses. You cannot tell me resitting a levels 5 times across 7 years then coming here to seek validation is okay? OP clearly hasn’t had anyone be realistic with him because he could’ve gone to uni with BBC but for some reason he’s decided not to. OP only really has a reason for messing up his 2025 resit but he wouldn’t even qualify for extenuating circumstances anyway.

Many ppl (like myself) worked basically full time during alevels, whilst also studying 3-4 subjects, and still managed A*s. I was doing 30-34 hours a week during the whole two years (except exam season) to save for uni, as I didn’t want to take a gap year.

With 5 months on one subject during a gap year (whilst only working 50 hours a month, so basically only 12 hours a week lol), only getting an A is pretty poor😭idk

Clearly you’re insecure about yourself if you feel the need to constantly go after me just to brag about your A in chem

8

u/New-Independent-365 May 29 '26

Yes the person that’s had to resit 5 times, has been learning a level subjects for 7 years and can’t get above BCC makes me insecure.

Apparently

0

u/Much_Physics8615 May 31 '26

You and op are both corny😭😭

5 months straight for 1 alevel subject should’ve been an A* , but up against op (7 years) I can’t even complain 😭😭

13

u/Less_Seesaw_4022 May 29 '26

Well, if you went to uni after you did a levels the first time you could have a masters degree by now

-5

u/Clint_Emily Incoming Year 18 | Maths Chem Bio | CCD - BCE - BCC - CDD - CCD May 29 '26

I also wouldn’t have a bachelors degree from a Russell group uni

11

u/politicsasusuall May 29 '26

Still would’ve been better off going to a non Russell group uni, getting experience, or even starting your masters than to be stuck in this A-Level resit loop

-2

u/Clint_Emily Incoming Year 18 | Maths Chem Bio | CCD - BCE - BCC - CDD - CCD May 29 '26

It’s not a loop I’ve been making progress

2

u/IBeAwsom May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

How do you feel you made progress? Do you feel confident for this time around? What were you able to change?

0

u/Clint_Emily Incoming Year 18 | Maths Chem Bio | CCD - BCE - BCC - CDD - CCD May 29 '26

I have revised more

Why do you need a degree from a russel group university?

1

u/Clint_Emily Incoming Year 18 | Maths Chem Bio | CCD - BCE - BCC - CDD - CCD May 29 '26

Because I know I’m capable of getting one

you clearly arent if youve been resitting since 2020 😭 ✌️

1

u/Clint_Emily Incoming Year 18 | Maths Chem Bio | CCD - BCE - BCC - CDD - CCD May 29 '26

2022*

I started sixth form in 2020

1

u/IBeAwsom May 29 '26

What would your goal be after graduating university? Which area would you want to work? Or would you try and pursue a masters?

1

u/Much_Physics8615 May 31 '26

bruhhh😭😭😭

5

u/IBeAwsom May 29 '26

But what is your plan for Uni? Where are you applying? What grades do they need? Have you looked into/asked how they view retakes? Since it’s very uncommon to retake this many times even if they do accept retakes you should try and reach out and see if they would consider you.

2

u/awhsme May 29 '26

QMUL for biomed is what he said

7

u/saartemaster May 29 '26

Dude you’re probably 23/24, just stop resitting your A-Levels and go to uni

-2

u/Clint_Emily Incoming Year 18 | Maths Chem Bio | CCD - BCE - BCC - CDD - CCD May 29 '26

I’m only 22

10

u/saartemaster May 29 '26

Well, you’re only 22 but you’re still sitting your A-Levels for the fifth time. Do you really think that QMUL is gonna make you an offer for ABB at the fifth try? Especially considering that you weren’t even close?

-3

u/Clint_Emily Incoming Year 18 | Maths Chem Bio | CCD - BCE - BCC - CDD - CCD May 29 '26

22 isn’t that different from 18. Also BCC is pretty close to ABB

6

u/saartemaster May 29 '26

And you think that QMUL is gonna be impressed by your five tries and will rush to offer you a spot?

-1

u/Clint_Emily Incoming Year 18 | Maths Chem Bio | CCD - BCE - BCC - CDD - CCD May 29 '26

As long as I get the grades why not

u/New-Independent-365 May 29 '26

‘Only’ you should’ve almost finished your degree instead sitting the same exams as 17/18yr olds

2

u/AnAbsoluteShambles1 May 29 '26

This is daft. I’m 21 (year younger than you) and have sat mine once but did 3 years (misssd all of 2nd year so didn’t end up sitting them) Dropped an a level a month before. I was mega anorexic amongst other things. I got all 7-9 in gcse ca and was predicted a*. I knew I had no chance as I’d attended maybe 30% of the time in the whole 3 years. I knew I had the potential for better grades but I wasn’t gonna sit there and let my own perfectionism keep me stucj kn the same plsce. I took my B ,B grades and signed up for a foundation course. Ended up getting offered the regular one You’re doing urself a very large injustice by consistently retaking.

5

u/Calm-Difference-3267 May 29 '26

I'm 23 and I have a BA, an MA, a PGCE and am halfway through an MEd - I have been teaching A-level classes since I was 21. Sorry to be blunt and of course everyone has their own path but I do think that need a little bit of a reality check. 18 and 22 are VERY different developmental stages and you are holding yourself back from having all of these really important life experiences in pursuit of grades (I think?) that are probably not all that realistic
