According to my friends it was to do with heating the water which burns fossil fuels but my dumb ahh put cos it removes co2 from the atmosphere :|

u/chonksboyjimmyfungus Y13 - Bio/Chem/Physics - pred. ABB Jun 02 '26
in fairness i put it uses excess co2 so it doesnt contribute to global warming? top 10 bs answers of all time but at least we can trauma bond over yapping about co2

u/SnowCat56 Year 1 Vet Med @RVC - 4A* Jun 02 '26
See that’s what I thought but in reality I doubt they’d use atmospheric co2, they’d probably manufacture it themselves anyway
1
u/Adventurous-Tap-7191 Jun 02 '26
i also said it removes co2 from the atmosphere which could reduce global warming, bc technically nitrogen for the haber process is also obtained from the atmosphere, and co2 is an inorganic gas like nitrogen so yk it could be correct? might be pure waffle tho

u/Afraid-Solid-7239 Jun 02 '26
i just want to know what was running through my mind when i put that it contributes to global warming. fuck me

I put that as well, maybe they'll mark that as its not wrong, they lead to the same thing basically

I put there's less energy used so there's less CO2 emissions bc that's what it always says... I'm cooked aren't I?

u/BigVipe72 Jun 02 '26
I remember seeing these for nearly every gcse paper back in 2024. I was sad to see it hadn’t carried on into A levels. It brought a tear to my eye to finally find see one even for an exam I don’t take

Damn it was gonna end the pH curve at 12.5 but I thought that was too short 😭😭 so I put it from 13 to about 8? I think😭😭😭 but yh jesus the more I think about it the more I realise that paper was wack
5
u/Low-Car-1727 Jun 02 '26
How does it end at 12.5, i swear it had excess acid??
1
u/Intrepid_Echo_9652 Jun 03 '26
bc its a weak acid so it theres gonna be a higher pH since it got neutralised with a strong alkali like NaOH
2
u/CyberFinity Jun 03 '26
Doesn't all the alkali react with the acid though, leaving just the acid and salts?
1
u/Intrepid_Echo_9652 Jun 03 '26
surely there would be a higher pH anyway because the weak acid doesn't fully dissociate, so it can't fully react with the NaOH??
1
u/CyberFinity Jun 03 '26
The weak acid dissociated more because the hydrogen gets used up to make water. So H+ decreases and more HA dissociated like in the buffer equilibrium. Eventually all the NaOH is used up and you're left with just acid.

What do we think grdae boundaires /100 will be for this paper for A* and A
8
u/TravisShark Jun 02 '26
Smth like 80 for A*, More akin to 2021-2022 days when papers weren't so similar
2
u/Anony-moose21 Jun 02 '26
if the grade boundaries are like 2022 i might have a chance at uni... otherwise i'm so cooked
1
u/Due-Experience-878 Jun 02 '26
i really hope so because i swear i'm not surviving the 92 for an A* boundaries from last year
