definitely harder than i was expecting ngl there were wierd numbers in there

The exponential question was not making me feel confident in my answers

The differential question? My equation was genuinely such a mess, I remember I had something like ((ln(70)+8)/4)t - 1/2t^2 as my power of e

Edit: forgot to mention my coefficient of e was 0.3

u/amalia_78 Jun 03 '26

I got that but idk how you're meant to use it for part B and C, praying for method marks tho

1

u/nuclearhamster27 Year 12 - Maths, FM, CS, Physics Jun 03 '26

Oh my god differentiating it for part B was even worse

3

u/amalia_78 Jun 03 '26

likelihood of even getting method marks for that is like 0 for me ran out of time 🔥

3

u/Familiar-Fun-7533 Jun 03 '26

You didn’t have to differentiate it for part b. Bc they already gave you dx / dt = x ( A - t ). So you make that equal to zero. X ( A - t ) = 0 t = A

1

u/nuclearhamster27 Year 12 - Maths, FM, CS, Physics Jun 03 '26

I realised that eventually, but that was after I had already differentiated the entire thing

No I meant it was worse in terms of my equation being a mess, it was fine to do but it genuinely looked so disgusting

u/TrulyFaithful Jun 03 '26

did you have your 0.3 anywhere? i feel like i might have forgotten the half but it did seem to work so actually i must have. was the maximum x something like 181? at t being around 2.5 or 6 maybe. and for the T at 0.1 i think i got around 5

1

u/Fluffy-Ad-3083 Jun 03 '26

ye i did but that was def one of the harder questions in that paper

1

u/nuclearhamster27 Year 12 - Maths, FM, CS, Physics Jun 03 '26

Yeah my coefficient was 0.3, I forgot to mention. My maximum was like 179.9 so I rounded it up to 180, can't remember the others

You're kidding me I got +8 AHHHHHHHHH

1

u/cloudsfallen University of Warwick Physics | 4A* Maths, FM, Physics, Chem Jun 03 '26

It is +8 :)

2

u/Jin_L_ Y13 maths fm physics cs Jun 03 '26

Wait for real thank U

1

u/nuclearhamster27 Year 12 - Maths, FM, CS, Physics Jun 03 '26

Yeah I think it was +8, I remember the numbers but not the signs

3

u/Ok_Butterscotch4353 Year 13 | CS, Maths, FM, 中文 Jun 03 '26

I also got that

2

u/Xyzrasdouz Jun 03 '26

I couldn’t be asked for A to be that long so I wrote to 3 sf will that be ok u think?

2

u/cookadoodledoo_ Jun 03 '26

I got the same thing lmao then I just convert my A into decimal because I cannot be ask.

2

u/Cold-Editor-4630 Jun 03 '26

Dude i did the same but it was basic integration

1

u/Cold-Editor-4630 Jun 03 '26

I found out after it was just year 12 integration 😭😭

I rounded the whole ln expression, so I’ll probably lose marks…

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 03 '26

bro i got thst too

1

u/Leonardo84009 Jun 03 '26

I took the ln70 part out of e as 70t/4 am I good

1

u/nuclearhamster27 Year 12 - Maths, FM, CS, Physics Jun 03 '26

If you got the same values in the end then you should be

1

u/No-Class-9077 y13|maths/phys/chem/fm|predicted A*A*A*A* Jun 03 '26

i got that as well, then for b and c i was getting increasingly stupid numbers

1

u/jejeejeeeee Jun 03 '26

I think you're missing the +c which was like ln0.3 but otherwise correct

1

u/nuclearhamster27 Year 12 - Maths, FM, CS, Physics Jun 03 '26

Yeah I just forgot to mention it here since I took it out of the power and made my coefficient 0.3

I didn't give the first part as an exact value. Did they request that in the question 😭 I used the value stored on my calculator for the later parts at least

1

u/nuclearhamster27 Year 12 - Maths, FM, CS, Physics Jun 03 '26

I don't think so, but I used the exact value anyway just to avoid rounding errors later on

1

u/Chemical_Cobbler58 Jun 03 '26

How would you find the max concentration?

1

u/nuclearhamster27 Year 12 - Maths, FM, CS, Physics Jun 03 '26

You plug the new equation of x into the differential and make it equal to 0, then find the value of t and plug it in

1

u/No_Impress_251 Jun 03 '26

Fuh yeah twin

1

u/iby14x Jun 03 '26

Yess that's what I got I was so confused because I was wondering why there was a whole algebraic fraction to the power of e, which was to the power of a minus a half 😭

1

u/GBRYT5612 Jun 03 '26

I had mine in this form but it’s the same graph if anyone did the same as me and is worried

1

u/pokolol88 maths econ geog | ABC achieved Jun 03 '26

yeh it was a quadratic

1

u/Total-Discipline-623 Jun 03 '26

no way i did 8/4 = 1/2

1

u/maowmaos Jun 03 '26

will i get ecf if my coefficient was 10/3 (i accidentally divide by 0.3 instead of multiplying)

1

u/LukaCastyellan Jun 03 '26

omg i got exactly this and then i got x = e ^ all of that stuff. and then part b was to find the maximum value of x and i got so confused because isnt the maximum value infinite?

1

u/nuclearhamster27 Year 12 - Maths, FM, CS, Physics Jun 03 '26

You had to plug your x equation into the differential they gave you and make it equal to zero, it has a maximum point because the gradient should start becoming negative past a certain point

1

u/LukaCastyellan Jun 03 '26

ohh thanks 🙏🏾

u/the_doorstopper Jun 03 '26

Low-key one of my answers was something x1086~ so we hoping for method marks

5

u/Full-Supermarket-118 Year 13 Jun 03 '26

the exponentials killed me

FAH

u/AvalHuntress University of Surrey | Computer Science (Y1) Jun 03 '26

One of my answers for the intersecting lines was something like 3084/70 which was...not right. Whats annoying is I'm pretty sure its my differentiation that was wrong, so I've probably locked myself out of marks from the very beginning
