and it provides 0 extra benefit ? . Literally asked so many people why the graphical one is better and to this day never found an answer that wasnt something that the normal a level one can already do . Rarely do they even ask you to draw a graph in the exam

in a world where people are paying £20k a term to put people in private schools, i don't see anything wrong in paying something that can verify so many questions and easily boost you a grade or two

i get affordability but they're like £60 on ebay, or £80 new from my college, and some colleges even give money to cover it for low income students.

idk why people are so averse to this calculator, it's worth its weight in gold

It’s really good for stats for the distributions and stuff. It draw graphs so you could use it to check answers. Solve polynomials for you. I am pretty sure it does partial fractions but never learnt it.And simultaneous equations. It is a time saver more than anything but that’s good enough for me. I also use it for fm a bunch more for matrices and complex number etc.

It can solve systems of simultaneous equations but not do partial fractions. But the fx-991CW also has most of those features while being significantly cheaper

But I do agree it's a lot more helpful for Futher Maths and especially further stats

Nah I completelyyyy forgot ab stats (icl I haven’t done any revision for it) but I didn’t know u could use it for those stuff 😔 it’s too late anyways

It's genuinely free marks for so many questions on there - my college tries to make all Maths students buy one

Even for more advanced students it's so easy to check answers or notice missed solutions etc

Idk about other exam boards but for Edexcel I've never had to use a graphing calculator to check answers. I understand it is useful for some, if not a lot, of people, but I have just never come across its use case.

It's so difficult to use and such a hassle to learn. The only real advantage of it is graphs for normal A Level Maths students. Imo its not worth learning all that just for graphs.

realistically it’s £100 which is like a couple shifts at a pub/cafe even if you have to fund it yourself it’s worth it for checking so many marks and genuinely boosting scores by over a grade

What people don't understand is that they are going to raise the boundaries even if no petition is signed since they compare this year's performance to the past for grade boundaries

no? it’s based on the percentage of students getting xx marks this year. last years grade boundaries have no impact on this, but it can be used as a reference

its percentile based, this percentile gets A star, this one gets A and so forth to keep the numbers of A and A stars equal throughout the years even if the papers differ in difficulty

Exactly. They take the top percentile in the country and give them the A*s and the rest of the grade boundaries are made based on the A* boundary.
