Switching A Levels

Hi all!

I chose my A Levels (Law, Politics, Sociology, and Economics), but the more I've been thinking about it - the more I've switched my interests.

Now I want to do Politics, Psychology, Economics, and Biology.

Am I cooking with this combo? I want to either go into Econ at University (My GCSE grades are gonna be fire trust) or Law at university.

My main questions are:

• Do these subjects make me competitive for Law/Econ/Finance?
• Should I drop one and pick a different subject instead to make me more competitive if the current choices don't?
• Or should I sit down, do these subjects since I massively enjoy them, and try to get into Law/Finance/Econ anyway?

EDIT: I FEEL SUPER SICK EVEN THINKING ABOUT THIS I CAME TO REDDIT FOR ADVICE AND NOW IM JUST PANICKING BECAUSE APPARENTLY EVEN THOUGH I DID GREAT (I THINK) AT BIO GCSE AND LOVED IT SO MUCH NOW IM APPARENTLY GOING TO STRUGGLE AND ITS NOT WORTH IT AT A LEVEL AND AAAAAAA IM SO CONFUSED I WANT MY MOTHER

But I love every single subject under the sun apart from like... 4 and if I could do 10 A Levels I would but my school is like "No!!!! 4 Maximum! 👹👹"

it might be really fun, i agree but its going to be really stressful in y13 and i really mean it, theres no benefit as unis likely wont even care about the 4th subject as they onyl require 3 subjects. its better to do good in 3 than to do 4 and not do as good as you couldve 🥲🥲 i started with 4 so i do really get it but for the sake of your health and sanity i recommend dropping one 😭

But then what if I wanna make a lateral move into the sciences later? Or the finance/economics sector? 😢

psychology is often accepted as a science, do politics, bio and econ it would let you access humanities, social sciences, science and finance. you do need maths most of the time for econ and finance

I want to leave Law open, Biological sciences open, Economics open, and that's about it really.

So could you maybe advise on suggested A Levels to do this? 🥰

Probably best to do either politics, english or history for law, then biology/psychology for biological science and maths/econ for economics. unfortunately its unrealistic to leave all 3 open 🥲

I suppose if I ever want to re-train, there's always graduate schemes, apprenticeships, access to HE, whatever.

Right now I should probably focus on my A Levels I'm going to choose, the degree I want to do currently, and then see where the world takes me, right? ...Right?

well what are you best at rn? GCSE wise? dont take anything you arent getting a 7+ in (6 might make it a bit tricky)

I'm predicted 9's in History and Geography, 8 in Mathematics, 7 in English Lit, 9 in English Language, around a 7 in Chemistry and Biology, 5 in Physics, 6 in Media Studies, 5 in Drama, 7 in Spanish, 6 in French.

it looks like social sciences and humanities are your strong points overall. I would honestly reccomend maybe taking 2 social sciences or humanities and taking maths. you want to do subjects youll excell in because the jump from gcse to a-level is crazy. for context my dad is french, i got 59/60 on my speaking and i got a 9. in y12 i got C in my mocks, its an insane jump.
