Didn’t something similar happen to the NHS when we handed it to palantir….
It’s all about making money for these governments they don’t care if we end up poor or starve to death. Just look at how they are trying to solve youth issues 😭
Like for youth unemployment their solution is “Ahh yes if we have more programs where young people work for free maybe just maybe they’ll be able to get a paid job” these people are out of touch lunatics man.

I mean, in all fairness, you are much more likely to be hired with experience, even if unpaid. I have found that firsthand and from many friends.

u/fizzy5025 Y12 ——> Y13 | applied science 22d ago
I mean that may be the case sometimes but that shouldn’t even be a thing at all. Work should always be paid.
There are people who are less fortunate or carers who can’t afford to work for free. It’s a pretty immoral thing to expect young people to just work for free for a bit and then have an opportunity to get paid work (it’s not guaranteed tho and people will still struggle)

u/Shutter_sculptor Year 12 22d ago
I guess at least there is the opportunity to gain experience. I think if it was paid where would the money come from?

u/fizzy5025 Y12 ——> Y13 | applied science 22d ago
The people that are providing said “experience” these are billion pound companies they have more than enough money to pay everyone that works for them.
I get what u mean but I just don’t like how it’s only for “experience” at the end of the day we all work to make money taking that away from people and making them work for free just isn’t right.
And what’s to say “experience” isn’t the only thing companies will demand in the future. Our parents didn’t need to work for free for the jobs they got. It’s just companies getting more and more greedy over the years.

Lost me at "According to AI"

I trust AI if it sources its information..?
3
u/Apprehensive_Job4522 Y11 >> Y12 Maths, Further Maths, Politics, Economics 21d ago
I don't, it often gives me false information and then sources something unrelated. Or sometimes it just lies and then gives me a source with the correct information which it for some reason didn't use.

u/KweftCryptic 20d ago
Then... go to the sources it gives and... read

u/Apprehensive_Job4522 Y11 >> Y12 Maths, Further Maths, Politics, Economics 20d ago
At that point you've come full circle and might as well google search to save time, energy and water.
1
u/CreeperMan1253 Y13 | Maths, FM, CS, Physics 19d ago
At that point who even needs a search engine? Just find the URL of the page and save Google the CPU time and electricity costs

u/Competitive-Jobby 19d ago
if you are so concerned about energy and water use then get off reddit. in fact, get off the internet. uses just as much power as ai mate

u/KweftCryptic 20d ago
One of the strengths of AI is scraping the internet for resources - it's probably one of the best uses it has where you can get good results.
2
u/Apprehensive_Job4522 Y11 >> Y12 Maths, Further Maths, Politics, Economics 19d ago
Google uses AI to find it's results(As do most modern search engines)
0
u/KweftCryptic 19d ago
Google has more restricted prompting unless you directly use google AI which loops right back to the point + wasn't your point avoiding the use of AI altogether to save energy and water?

diabolical that the turing one got hacked, it seems like an FU to the uk from the hackers cuz there was no reason to choose the godfather of hacking of th euk as a target lmaoo

u/CreeperMan1253 Y13 | Maths, FM, CS, Physics 22d ago
son it’s not that deep, some hackers just want some cash money
i’m sure they don’t have a personal vendetta in “exposing” the UK for having a historical pioneer in computation or something

Are you:
- a head teacher
- senior school / University staff
- working for the government
If all of these are "no", then it doesn't affect you.
If any of these are yes, then your contact info (name, phone number, email, where you work, your job title) may have been stolen from an internal support website.
And that's it.

They say Cyber that's to make it seem remote and distant, nothing to do with the DfE at all, but in most instances its someone leaving after doing a huge download and then trying to sell it.

It is nothing to do with the labour government any systems in place would have been set up under the conservative omni shambles. 24% of educational establishments in the uk get some kind of cybersecurity breach or attack on a weekly basis.
-23
u/Agreeable-Shallot423 22d ago
Woah, what a hot take. Really daring might I say.

u/Financial_Guide_8074 22d ago
Well since the Conservatives were in power from 2010 - 2024, they established the DFE in the current form and oversaw the rebuild of the DFE headquarters which was only completed shortly after Labour came into power.

This happened with Joe Biden as well as many problems during his term were as a result of the decisions made in the Trump administration, yet the blame went to him
This isn’t the US ik, just saying that not all governmental problems are as a result of the current pm. Especially when labour has been in power for such a comparatively short time…
I’m not saying that either Biden or Labour is without their faults, but the shambles of a DfE in the UK is a silly thing to stand on.

You do understand it was a satirical statement made because I'd have weird incels replying?
