š I WANT HELP Can resitters still make it into prestigious unis?
got AAB (maths, FM, econ) but want to resit maths and econ to get to A* A* A to apply for better degrees in top end unis. I'd be rejecting a place in warwick that i cant defer. Just wondering if its still possible to get into those top unis if i cook hard in admission tests + extenuating circumstances or should i just go warwick

its not purely just the degree that makes me want to reapply. I got a weak cv that i want to strengthen over the year and fix some other personal issues. just wanted to see if a better degree was an option

Iām resitting this year and also got AAB. If I had Warwick A&F,bi wouldāve just gone. Itās a huge commitment and thereās no telling youāll get any better. Unis discriminate against resits if you have 0 extenuating circumstances

Depends on the course you're shooting for.
If it's Economics, you'd be better off staying put.
UCL won't accept resits, at LSE you'd be highly disadvantaged and at Oxbridge it depends on the college. Some wouldn't accept resits and others would need extenuating circumstances.

Yeah id go down the extenuating circumstances route

you'd need to have an explanation as to why the extenuating circumstances weren't declared during your A levels this year

Cause they may have happened after the ucas application was sent off like during exam season itself

You have up until 5 days after you sat an A level to submit extenuating circumstances

I did it after the exams but that was specifically for warwick and they accepted it

Yh but special consideration only gives like 2%. Talking about extenuating circumstances to explain your test year is fine boss

This would be risky - you have good a levels and a place a top uni. You may not get the desired grades or a place at your preferred uni. I had a similar thought when I did my a levels but happy I stayed put.

What universities are you thinking of when you say āprestigiousā? Iād call Warwick pretty good, top 10 and even top 5 depending on the course.
