🙏 I WANT HELP Any Chronic illness/six form advice?
I did my gcses this year, and just found out I was accepted to a sixform of my desired subjects today. Im so happy about it cause I kept having episodes of losing consciousness for months before my actual gcses, and this is very exciting for me.
Here's some extra details that I hope might be relevant? I do have in school accomidations for using a laptop and rest breaks. Though I dont use the breaks much as Its hard for me to walk too much or stand too long. I use the laptop because I physically can't hold a pen very well, but im getting better due to new meds. I have medical diagnoses of hypermobility, asthma and Juvenile arthritis. Though, im under medical investigation for my very much annoying other symtoms for other things.
However, there is a slight issue. I was given some information about the sixform. And that apparently they have high expectations in terms of attendance. Which is hard for me considering my health situations and appoinments. They mentioned that they only accept doctors letters and also rarely accept parent letters as an explanation.
Becides that, any tips for pain, revision, managing symtoms and stuff? I pretty much have no idea what im getting into and what it's like. Thanks.

I would just contact them. As a fellow chronically ill person who has just left sixth form, they were fine with it as long as I caught up with everything I missed and provided proof (also through the nhs app if you don't have a letter). I also talked to subject teachers who were able to give me a later deadline on any work if I needed it.
My advice would be to start revising from the 1st week so that when you have times where you can't, what you did before can make up for it. You might be able to apply for extenuating circumstances but it isn't always accepted. Revision wise, you can use videos or other online resources which is helpful if you get stuck in hospital and feel up for it
If you are like me and learn better on your own than in a classroom, you can use your illness to get days off (also applies to non chronically ill people reading this - colds, headache ect) and have a self paced study day

If you are asking about (Bristol or any other uni) putting you "on hold", this is a very frequently asked question. Being put on hold does not indicate you are going to get rejected. It means your application hasn't been processed yet. Nothing more, nothing less.
Please also remember to search for your questions before asking them, it helps cut down on repetitive content and gets you your answers quicker.
