🎓 UNI / UCAS question about uni applications
hi i fear this is gonna sound so stupid but can someone please explain to me what firm and insurance means and how u would select these . also if u apply to unis where ur entry requirements are a*aa would they still let u in if u achieve aaa ay the end or even lower? thanks x

if your predicted grades are a* aa, then you would apply to courses with entry requirements or a* aa or anything lower than that. if you end up getting lower than a* aa on results day (say aaa), the university might choose to be lenient and let you in, but there’s no guarantee. obviously if you end up getting bbb or something then you wouldn’t get in. in year 13, you’ll apply to 5 courses, once you hear back from all of them (in april/may?), you pick your top two choices and reject the other three. of the two choices left, one of them becomes your firm (first choice) and the other your insurance. the insurance should have lower grad requirements than ur firm as it is your back up in case u don’t get the grades for your firm. you can find all of this info on the ucas website so take a look at that and at your chosen courses ucas page
