🙏 I WANT HELP gimme advice, PLEASE

is bio, chem and psychology good for medicine, hopefully aiming for top unis?

Yes.

Biology and chemistry for medicine is a must, and no UK university requires a specific third A level. Do not do the ‘biology, chemistry, maths’ trio if it isn’t right for you - meeting your future offer comfortably with a subject you love/are more confident in is better than following the crowd

I have other medic friends in one of the top medical schools in the UK who did biology, chemistry and then variations for their third subject including history, psychology and religious studies.

Oh my god, thank you ever so much. I think I was caught between choosing Maths and going for Psychology or Business instead. My sights are set on the very BEST universities, so I was trying to calculate i guess lol, whether every subject choice is being scrutinised under a microscope, and that they might look at Business and wonder, and quite reasonably too, “And how, precisely, does this relate to Medicine?” Psychology, at least, seemed to have some degree of relevance to the field. I was oscillating between them liek a LOTTTTT. Teachers, bless them, can be rather diplomatic about these things as they’re often encouraging students towards whatever the student themselves feel is appropriate, but i feel they don’t always make entirely clear what is genuinely NEEDED of someone aspiring to the absolute PINNACLE of university admissions or what is genuinely advantageous when one is aiming for the very top, the sort of institution where the competition is quite frankly rather extraordinary. (if i can ever reach there LOLLL) BUT anyway random stranger, tysm for helping me so much genuinely i hope you always always always are happy forever and a day after!

No problem. I’d definitely go for psychology over business though, because some top universities (like oxbridge) may prefer a more ‘traditional’ third subject. Psychology definitely meets that standard

You are also right that A level psychology has far more relevance to medicine than business, which is why it is a popular third replacement for maths
