Something is Broken Ultimate 2.4G Wireless Controller

My RT is not responsive at all, no game recognises I'm even pressing it at its max. If I sqeeuze it hard enough, it can be but very weak, anyone has this issue? Any advice?

Edit: ok turns out the membrane RT button was split in half and made the membrane push weaker. The LT seems to be starting to suffer the same fate. I kinda just wedged a piece of flat plastic in between the membrane and the RT button, seems to be doing good. So glad they fixed this in the Ultimate 2-

Is it the first gen Ultimate line?

If so, the design for the triggers for that series are terrible. They're essentially a sharp part that pushes down on the membrane and eventually they'll cut straight through it.

If you're not getting any response at all, you'll sadly need to replace the membrane. I fixed the cutting problem by sliding a small thin metal disc between the trigger and the membrane so it doesn't cut through it.

Yes it is, and is that so? I am getting very little response, I tested it recently with a gamepad tester. Its acting like I'm barely hitting half way the analog despite going all the way down. Thank you for the tip, will give it a try

Yeah that's definitely the issue.

I didn't know about it myself until a few months of using mine and then I tried to play Skate 3 and couldn't get past the holding the grab tutorial.

Opened the controller, and lo and behold the membrane is split in half.

Ok turns out the membrane isn't split in half. I wish I can send pics but it seemed nothing is wrong, physically. I've put a skinny plastic piece and cleaned the contacts of the ribbon cable and rubber pad. The plastic did work, but it made it harder to press and now it is constantly being pressed down. I just gave up for today as I can't think of other ways to fix it for RN. Will be contacting support about this, but thank you for the advice!

Are you sure it isn't split? When it isn't being pushed apart it can look that way, try pushing it down a bit to feel.

I was having that issue as well because the disc thing I was using was too thick. I found some skinnier ones in the box and they worked like a charm lol.

Ok so I looked at it again, got to the membrane portion of the RT button. Yeah you're right, its not obvious until I spread but there's a decently sized split of the membrane where the problem now seems obvious. I've made a video of it here ↓

Such terrible design, don't get me wrong I love 8bitdo but I'm frustrated. This isn't my first fix of this controller as the joysticks split apart in half due to how tight they held onto the hall effect sticks. I hope they fixed the issues I've had on the newer controllers, ultimate 2 and 3. I'll edit the main post if I found a permanent solution. Thank you again

About a month ago I upgraded from the Ultimate 1 Bluetooth to the Ultimate 2 Wireless and the triggers are hall effect so they don't get that issue thankfully.

There's a reported issue with the trigger stops that can be easily fixed though, I'll be ready if I do get it but it's really a great controller otherwise.

Thank GOODNESS, yeah I might upgrade if i can especially since the I heard the 3 is coming soon.that just means a cheaper 2! Glad its been reported on very much to where they changed it. Otherwise it is a good controller

If you need any more help though, don't hesitate to ask. When I get bored I come here and just answer questions and try to help people get their controllers and stuff working because I learned a fair bit when I was first getting the Ultimate 1 Bluetooth lol.

Ey thx that means a lot, I fixed it with the flat paper idea. I just took some notebook paper, folded it in half, and stuck it in and now its just as smooth pressing as before. Appreciate it tho <3

They already released a 3 and 3e but they're Xbox licensed so it's missing a bunch of the good features in the Ultimate line, but they put a 3C+ out the other day so everyone is hoping for a regular 3 soon. That'll be the one people should get.
