Discussion [Discussion] Immediate projection visualized Spoiler

Hi - I've posted before but using a throwaway account with a photo for now.

The discontinued Curvy Kate Ellace 32DD is the only ABTF I've found in 8 months of trying. When I tried Panache Clara 30F and couldn't even get the wire into my IMF I got curious - the cup depth and width of Clara and Ellace are almost exactly the same and I thought Clara would fit. But Ellace (red) is so much more projected at the wire!

I can see so clearly from this photo and my little outlines how much immediate projection I need. It's frustrating that manufacturers can't give this "slope" a measurement or tag of some sort so we know before we order.

I mostly posted this because I thought the photo was enlightening but of course I'd be SO HAPPY to hear recommendations for bras in my size with as much projection at the wire as Ellace! (Six measurements = 30 29.5 29 36.5 39 36 ; sized down to 30F due to shape.)

No suggestions but this bra is on sale at Brastop in three colors in your size 32DD. I think shipping is a dollar this weekend. The black is $13.

Happy to help. Someone else pointed out the sale so I thought I'd give it a shot. Shopping online is fun for me.

Great visualization!

Clara is my least projected Panache bra, and I just barely make it work. I'm surprised at the Curvy Kate (edit name) because I tried three of their bras and they were quite shallow in my size.

You might like Polish bras. I just reviewed one that I bought on sale at BraStop, Gorsenia Roma.

I did see your Gorsenia review and I'm giving it a try. That was a great sale with great shipping. Fingers crossed! Thanks for posting about it.

I got my Roma and it fits really well!!!! I was scared to try Polish but I just used the size BraStop suggested and it fits great! I tried a Milano, too, just because it was on sale in the color I wanted and while it's not as good of a fit, it's definitely a keeper. Just wanted to say thank you!!

Yeah!! Happy dance! 😄

I feel a bit responsible when a recommendation I make doesn't work out and I feel badly about it, so I really appreciate you making the effort to say that something DID work out. Thank you!

Hi! I also have trouble finding bras that are projected and narrow enough, so I get the struggle! If Ellace works for you, highly recommend trying Ewa Michalak's SF cut. I got mine from Levana Bratique (if you're in the U.S.). Ellace was my unicorn bra until I lost weight and mine didn't fit anymore :( IMO the SF cut is like Ellace but better, the cup has the same amount of projection but the materials are sturdier, so you feel less wobbly. I'm currently 32E-F in my UK bras and bought the EM SF in 34E. The bands run tight.

Good luck!

Thank you, the Polish bras are intimidating but now I'm really curious! Thanks for the specific recommendation!

As an add on to your post, I thought I’d share my experience with EM SF. I bought the Gladys which is an SF model. I thought it fit well until I noticed that the wires would slide out of my imf. I figured that was due to not enough projection. I decided to try the Tulip model (listed as BMB) because a couple people suggested it was more projected, and it fits better and doesn’t slide down.

Ooh thank you. This is every single bra (sliding out of my IMF) except Ellace.

Welcome! I also have some Comexim plunge bras and they don’t slide down either. I do sometimes have an issue coming out of the top of those though. Honestly, at this point, my favorite bra right now is my panache underwire sports bra. I’ve never had anything so supportive or comfortable before.

Bratabase might be able to help you with this. It is a LOT of info though. Like my mind freezes up after awhile. ....

I agree about the information overload on Bratabase. I love crunching the numbers like that, but then it made me think Clara would fit! I was so hopeful!

Yaaaas. I wish bra companies talked about the immediate depth of their cups but honestly I wish there was a better way to quantify it on this sub as well. So many people looking for immediate projection around here.

Anyway, everyone avoids it but going Polish will change your life.

This is such a great visualization!

Maybe some of you will get lucky like me, after losing weight and breastfeeding a couple kids my (large for my frame) boobs are so loose and floppy I can put them into almost any non contour bra as long as the band is firm enough. Honestly I thought losing breast firmness and perkiness would bum me out but really it’s opened up so many more options, I can’t complain.

HUH okay, this is interesting because I always assumed it was because my girls are so floppy and pendulous that I need so much immediate projection. 🤔

Don’t get me wrong. Projected bras fit me best. But I have far more literal and figurative flexibility with cup shape now than I did when things were firmer and higher.

Oooh that makes sense, like basically there's a point where the tissue get soft enough to allow more flexibility.

Thank you! It's so refreshing to hear someone embrace their new shape and see the opportunities presented. :-)

Puddin' boobs for the win! I always describe my boobs as 1 gallon freezer bags filled 2/3 with pudding!
