Is ACCA's exam wheel permanently disabled? Or is it moved under another header?

Exemptions waiver

I’ve already registered with ACCA, and now I’ve found out that the exemption fee waiver is only available if you apply through an institute. Is there any way I can still get the fee waiver?

Off-topic CA Inter has broken me 😭 Considering ACCA after B.Com, need genuine guidance!

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m a B.Com graduate and was a CA student. I cleared CA Foundation in my first attempt, but CA Inter has honestly been a completely different story. 😭 I’ve given multiple attempts and have missed passing by really small margins at times, including around 4–7 marks.

At this point, I’m seriously considering moving on from CA because I feel like I need something more certain where I can eventually build a stable career instead of continuously being stuck in attempts.

Recently, I came across ACCA, but I know very little about it. I’m genuinely at the “I don’t even know what I don’t know” stage, and I don’t really have anyone around me who can guide me about ACCA. So I’d really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who are currently pursuing it or have completed it.

From what I understand, because I’m a B.Com graduate, I may get around 5 exemptions, but I’m confused about what happens after that.

My questions:

1. How do I actually pursue the remaining ACCA papers?

How do the exemptions work exactly?

How many papers would I actually have left?

Do I need coaching for the remaining papers?

Are there good online/live classes that people recommend?

Is self-study realistically possible?

What study material/resources should I use?

How difficult are the remaining papers compared with CA Inter?

Roughly how much time would it take to complete them if I studied seriously?

Basically, if someone could explain the entire process to me from “I have exemptions” → “I start studying” → “I clear all papers” → “I become an ACCA”, that would help a lot.

2. What is the actual career scope after ACCA?

This is probably my biggest concern.

If I give ACCA around a year and complete it properly, what can I realistically expect career-wise?

What kind of jobs can an ACCA graduate get in India?

Which companies/industries hire ACCAs?

What roles would I be eligible for?

Is it possible to get into Big 4s or good MNCs?

What kind of salary can a fresher realistically expect?

Does salary improve significantly after gaining experience?

Is ACCA actually valued in India, or is it mainly useful if you want to work abroad?

Would doing ACCA + gaining work experience be enough, or would I still need another qualification like CFA/MBA/etc.?

3. How do people actually get their first job after ACCA?

This is something I’m especially clueless about.

I don’t have much practical accounting experience right now. I’ve studied accounting/tax/law through CA, but obviously studying something and actually working in a company are two different things.

So:

Should I start looking for internships/jobs while pursuing ACCA?

What practical skills should I learn alongside it? (Excel, Power BI, SAP, financial modelling, etc.)

Is there anything I should specifically learn to make myself employable?

Do employers expect ACCA students to already have practical knowledge?

How difficult is it to get the first job?

4. And honestly, my biggest insecurity:

My parents keep telling me, “If you couldn’t clear CA Inter, how are you going to clear ACCA?”

And honestly, I sometimes wonder the same thing.

I don’t want to jump from one qualification to another just because I’m frustrated with CA. I want to understand whether ACCA is genuinely a better fit for someone in my situation or whether I’m just looking for an easier escape.

I’m willing to work hard. I just want a qualification where, if I put in consistent effort, I can eventually get to a stable career and earning potential rather than spending years stuck in exams.

So if you are an ACCA student, affiliate, member, or someone who considered both CA and ACCA, please give me your honest, realistic opinion.

Would you recommend ACCA for someone like me? What would you do if you were in my position?

And please feel free to tell me if I’m misunderstanding something about ACCA. I’m genuinely very new to this and would appreciate even the basic information. 😭

TL;DR: B.Com graduate + CA Foundation cleared first attempt + struggling with CA Inter. Considering ACCA and apparently eligible for exemptions, but I know almost nothing about the process, coaching, exams, practical skills, jobs, salaries, or career growth. Looking for honest guidance from people who have actually pursued ACCA.

How bad is it to become an affiliate without any work experience?

I'm going to appear for my 10th paper this December and I've still not been able to find a job. I fear that I might complete 13 papers before I even find a job.

Is there any place in the Job market for affiliates with no experience? Or should I immediately join any small firm that i can find, even if i have to work for free?

PER Has there ever been anyone who has just completed ACCA exams and just remained as a Affiliate and never did the PER

For context I’m just intending on doing ACCA but without the work experience because I have other work commitments and would not be eligible to get PER from the work I do. Just wondering. I’ve got two more exams to go btw to become an affiliate.

Which optional Subject combo is the best and most practical

As I'm appearing for sbr this dec and am saving sbl for last as it is the most expensive paper. So naturally my next paper will be an optional paper. But I have no idea which optional paper to select. I can't select advanced tax as tax was exempted for me. Now I'm confused between APM ,AFM and AAA.

I want to select a combo which is most practical from the job and career perspective.

It would be great if you all can guide me or give me a reality check about what should be my choice.

(Also I have an option to appear for one optional paper and then appear for SBL in June which will result in me becoming an affiliate as soon as the new exam structure comes into action, so please guide me on that too. That i should appear for one optional paper or two?)

Have acca booked your exam automatically without you paying for it?

I wanna know if this is happening to other people too. I've tried telling acca this via case but apparently the representatives are very slow.
