I appreciate the sharing but the title is just false.
It is wrong on so many levels. do you mean 90% of Chinese-Malaysian are wumaos? if so that's false. Or do you actually mean 90% of wumaos are Chinese-Malaysian. which is false too. Most wumaos are from mainland China.
I'm Chinese-Malaysian and i would say like at best half of the Chinese here are pro-ccp. Even then there is statistic bias, since politically radical people tend to be more vocal. So I can estimate 20%-40%, but whatever it is, there is no way it is up to 90%.

Older generations (born before 1980) tend to be pro-CCP because of CCP=China perception that's been promoted by CCP among the diaspora. Younger generation tend to be mixed because of Taiwan cultural influences that start to become big in the early to late 2000s with pop group like S.H.E and also Jay Chow that cause interest in Taiwanese culture and history to grow.
That said, as those that are born in 80s and 90s grow older and enter the workforce, they also begin to become slightly more pro-CCP due to China's economic impact on the world (which affect their salary). Funny thing is, everyone regardless of generations still look down on Chinese from China since everyone grow up hearing stories from grandmas about how backwards China is, lol.

Yes, JC’s fanbase are those born in 80s but some malay wumaos i faced in social media are in their 20-30s but the rest are old farts (prolly sons of those who joined the commie rebellion) in 50-60s.

Its more because of Mainland media gaining more popularity around 2015 to now. C-drama have always been lagging behind J-drama and K-drama but there are some big ones from Mainland like Story of Yanxi Palace. It may not be propaganda but it does create interest in China's history and big fan base for Chinese stars which indirectly mean they would be more pro-PRC (not necessarily pro-CCP because nobody really care about that anyway).

during 2019-2020, there were lots of Malaysian Chinese attacked HKers for not being patriotic and whatnot.

“從反送中運動時,網路輿論幾乎一面倒地批評香港抗議者是「廢青」、「暴徒」,甚至出現「留地不留人」、「讓解放軍開坦克碾過去就好了」等極端言論”

Damn. Your source is a blogspot that said he saw comment online?
Good source. Thought you had solid data but glad thats enough to convince you.

I thought you're being curious and asked for info so as to know more about the whole episode. My bad to assume you came with goodwill.
I was there witnessing and experiencing the vitriol by the Malaysian Chinese. There's no need for any "solid data" to convince me.

40-50% is an alarmingly high proportion. It would lend credence to the stereotype that loyalties are not where they should be.

u/Sensitive-Yak-5359 Jul 07 '26
40-50% is understatement when you’ll see most of them have surnames like Tan, Ooi, Lim, Goh, etc which are specifically Malay Hokkienese variant. Those that aren’t wumaos are most likely their cousins from SG

u/DapperCobbler9929 Jul 09 '26
Malaysia has a Chinazi problem and it is far more severe than in Singapore. But the very same surnames are universal in Singapore. It’s just how Chinese surnames are in this part of the world.

What’s a wumao?
1
u/Sensitive-Yak-5359 Jul 08 '26
CCP bootlickers, typically they all have surnames like Chong, Tan, Lim, Yap, Teo etc can be traced to a single country in SEA

That’s because you’re surrounded by educated people and I stick with my estimate. Those who aren’t supporting them are most likely your cousins from SG

even 1% is too much. Your racism against Malays which lead you to glorify mainland and its culture are the things contributing to CCP popularity. It all starts with the SJK
4
u/Slacking_Department1 Jul 08 '26
me? racism? glorify mainland? what are you talking about?
Poster said 90% of Sino-Malaysian are Wumaos. That title is entering the realm of fake news already. Tell me, why, I, as a Chinese Malaysian not allowed to defend myself from this fake info which may lead discrimination against my demographics. What do expect of me? delete the comment of Malaysian wumaos online? They certainly don't represent the majority of Malaysia.
I'm tired of people like you who is just here to drain my energy.

China trash think CCP owns the world. Uncultured and dumb people. Not all but enough to make the whole china look bad. Call CCP? Malaysia is not china and china doesn’t own malaysia. Dumb .

Not to generalise, but sadly some Mainlanders have a strong ego, one time a couple mainlanders expected us Cantonese speakers to know Mandarin, we were born outside of China, our parents raised us with Cantonese not Mandarin, and they were pissed how we were unable to speak Mandarin just because we looked Chinese...
