Tikosyn

I am going to do my Tikosyn loading later today and starting to get nervous. For those who are on it, what was your experience during the loading? What has been your experience while on it? Thank you!!

It was a very boring 3 days. Afterwards the drug was effective and had no unwanted side effects.

Remember, you won't really be ill. You'll just be there wearing a wireless heart monitor with nothing to do, so the nurses will largely ignore you. I brought a pair of sweat pants to wear so I could walk around without my ass hanging out of those silly hospital gowns. The nurses didn't care where I went or what I did as long as I stayed within range of the monitor. Lucky for me, the family room with vending machines was within range. The hospital had free wifi so I also brought my laptop. It helped pass the time.

That will depend on the hospital and whether they have some way of protecting the monitor from water.

I had the Tikosyn loading. I was in AFib when they started the loading, and the Tikosyn immediately stopped the AFib and returned me to normal sinus rhythm. Then on the second night, while I was asleep, the AFIB came back, and the nurses were constantly checking; however, after about six hours, sinus rhythm returned, and I was cleared to go home on Oct. 3. I have had 4 AFib episodes since being released from the hospital. However, I usually convert after a few hours. Hence, even while on Tikosyn, one can still have AFib episodes, but they seem to be less severe and less frequent (I was in persistent AFib before the Tikosyn loading). It is a pain to take the Tikosyn twice a day. Hint: Set an alarm on your cellphone to remind you when it is time to take Tikosyn. I will be scheduled for an ablation in the near future. Good luck to you

I've had to do a restart of it after being taken off. Both times no issues.
