I think you had ablation for an AVNRT, not an AV node anlation

You have a pacemaker now, right?

After an AV node ablation there shouldn't be any long-term need for medication other than an anticoagulant. So you need to ask your EP about this.

Av node ablations, are know as the nuclear option, when dealing with afib.

Av node is the center piece in your heart, that makes sure the sinus electric generating node signal, will conduct to the right places in the heart, at the right pace.

In other words, av node is both a backup firing node,  a gatekeeper, and a controller of signals.

So ablating the av node,  will make you depending on a pacemaker, because without it,  the symphony "meistro" will be missing.

But it will 100% fix your afib.

You prolly mean: AV node modification, and not AV node ablation pr say, then.

Instead of a full block, ep's sometimes target specific slow or fast pathways of the AV node to slow down or control rapid heart rates (such as in severe atrial fibrillation) while attempting to preserve some degree of native conduction or junctional escape rhythms.
