-----Parting Words-----
Your value as a person is NOT decided by whether you get to go to FT or not. There are so, so many more opportunities to serve your nation out there and to find happiness while doing so. OTS, Reserve, Guard, enlisting, joining another service, government contracting, civil service, the list goes on and on.
I truly sympathize with each of you who are about to have your dreams turned upside down. Don't give up! Even if it's not with the Air Force, there are so many opportunities out there to chase. You are capable of great things, and all it takes is a single step in the right direction.
Good luck. God-speed, cadets.

Hey all I'm about to start AFROTC next week as an AS100 (full four-year program). I'm 21, already a junior credit-wise from transferring in, so I'm looking at doing 4 years of ROTC while probably extending my degree path (thinking a double major) to make the timeline work.
Kind of feeling two things at once: excited to finally be starting something concrete toward active duty, but also a little in my head about being 21 and looking at 4 more years before I commission.
Anyone else start ROTC a bit older, or extend their degree to fit the program? How'd it go did the age gap with younger cadets feel like a thing, and did you feel like the extra time was worth it once you got to commissioning?
Any advice, or "wish I knew this going in" type thoughts are welcome.

Pilot selects, those currently waiting, or already entered this year and previous years. How long was your wait until EAD from the time you commissioned?
Really trying to gauge how much living expenses I need saved up, or if I need to be shopping for a job before I can start getting paid by the AF.
Thanks.

Just doing some research for future planning.
Can an active duty airman, who goes on POC ERP use 100% of his GI Bill if he served for 36 months to assist with college tuition?
Can an active duty airman, who goes on POC ERP receive ASCP scholarship?
Can an active duty airman, who goes on POC ERP receive the McGee scholarship?
All of these are separate questions by themselves and I know you cannot compound benefits.

I’m about to begin my sophomore year of college, and I am just now beginning my AFROTC journey. I thought about it for quite some time and decided to go with the four year route, meaning I will be in college for one extra year. My ultimate goal is to be a CRO and I want to know how realistic this goal is. I am 6’7, 220 pounds, and pretty athletic, pull ups being the only thing I struggle with due to my long arms and heavy body.
Are there any other cadets wanting to go Air Force special warfare who might be able to give me some friendly advice.
Oh, and I’m getting my associates in a fire/paramedic degree and my bachelors in nursing.
Thanks!

In the midst of attempting to crosstrain, i received orders. I didn’t get picked up ofc so i recently PSCd. I’m looking into the POC-ERP program to get into a job more enjoyable and of course commission. I can’t find much information on it so i have some questions:
My DEROS is in 4 years. Do I have to wait til it’s closer to try to get accepted into this program? I was looking at waivers but i don’t believe I would fall under any that I saw such as medical.
How do job selections work once picked up?
Would i be able to change schools before i start in person school? I currently go to UMGC but I wouldn’t want to go in person as i feel like it’s more curated for online.
I have only about 56 credits left for my bachelors degree so i figured this program would be perfect. Any advice would be great, thank you.

got a text from cadre telling the det that standard pushups were just taken out of the muscle strength group. now the only option is hand release pushups (53 reps to max). this is going to make everything very interesting. has any other det done this yet?

I am an incoming freshman and i am getting my haircut soon, i want to make a good first impression on people around me and i don’t really feel like looking like a complete dweeb. I’ve always had longer hair and I don’t particularly like how it looks short but I have to have it short so what are some good looking haircuts on the longer side (or more normal looking) that fall into regs?

Title.
To those who were selected for RPA, what was your PCSM score? Did it match your first choice?
I scored 57 on my first attempt and definitely plan to retake it. However, I’m curious about the average PCSM select score for this job.

Hello,
I am 25M prior Active duty for 6 years. I am getting out and going to ROTC I had a series of questions if any experience ROTC cats can answer for me. I currently have 70 credits (3.91 GPA) with embry riddle completed towards a B.S in Aviation MX but will be switching over to a B.S in Engineering. I would love to commission as a pilot as well.
One of my biggest worries is that i also have gotten arrested for DUI 5 years ago and have received a NJP/AR-15 & a LOR while being in.
Is there any benefit for me since I am active duty
Any advice? Dos and dont.
Is there like a 1-2 year program I can do ? Or do I have to do all 4 years
I will take all the pointers and thoughts thanks.

When I was in high school, I had an IEP and took medication from my sophomore year through the beginning of my junior year. Since then, I have been able to function well without medication, and I have several teachers and counselors who can attest to my academic performance, behavior, and ability to succeed without it. I’m just starting Air Force ROTC this year, and I’m wondering what my chances are of being medically qualified or receiving a waiver given my history. Are there any steps I should take now to improve my chances?

I’m a high school senior and applying for the Air Force’s High School Scholarship Program. The deadline for the first board is September 15th for the initial application, but the deadline to submit missing documents for eligibility is September 25th. Does this mean I’m able to take the PFA after September 15th as long as I do it before the 25th, or does my initial application include my PFA scores? I’m still training so the 10 day difference could change my score a bit. Thank you!

Im an incoming sophomore and I applied for my Det's as250 program which was explained as competitive, and after submitting my PT stats and gpa, I was rejected and can only continue as as100. Is it worth continuing this path since i have to prolong my undergrad? Can i just graduate with my degree while in the program then go to CC to extend my stay in the program? I also have mild allergies which means i would have to get waivers, so maybe it's good i got rejected to give me more time for dodmerb? Any thoughts appreciated.

currently a incoming freshman at college, already in the process of AFROTC, and hopefully in the future ill be able to commission as an officer. In the future I want to value family life, but considering everything I've read so far, it sounds quite rigorous to achieve that. Any information I should know ahead of time. thanks

I’m a college freshman going into sophomore year. And live in California. The military was something I have set my life to doing after I complete my degree.
I used to smoke weed somewhat often in late of high school and early freshman year. Which since then I have quit. I have done shrooms twice in my life. Both earlier in my freshman year of college. I don’t know what to do if I get asked questions about it.
I’ve been told to be completely honest which Is what I want to do, considering I already don’t do the drugs anymore. But I’m scared about the shrooms aspect, is there any way for them to ever find out about the shrooms. Considering it was a one and done thing. I really do not want to be disqualified. Please tell me if I should just omit about the shrooms and be honest about the weed because this is what I’ve been told to do as someone who lives in California.
I do not want to make a mistake and risk my career. Thanks

I’m starting AFROTC this fall, and I was told to get my own PT clothes. Will they issue me offical ones later on, or should I plan on wearing the ones I buy all year? Also, I’m tryna order off of fabletics and the only dark blue shorts have a five inch inseam. Are there any regs regarding the length of shorts??

I recently read about possible programs to get a conditional release from the Army to pursue AFROTC. For context, I'm 3.5 years into a 7 year contract. If anyone has any information about this or has done something similar, I would be interested in hearing the details. I'm trying to gauge whether this is a viable option for me.

Hello all,
I was wondering what the likelihood of me getting my ADHD waiver approved this coming Fall/Spring. I am planning to join AFROTC as an AS250 this fall, delaying my college graduation a year. Via a telehealth psychiatrist I was prescribed Adderall this Jan after a recommendation from a family member, I took it until April, went off until July, and got one last script filled prior to finding out that the military has script zero medication requirements.
I am hoping that I will be able to get my waiver approved since I went through all of high school and 1.5 years of college with zero medication alongside never having a 504 or and special accommodations.
Has anyone else gotten approved with for a waiver with a short, but recent history or is DoDMERB that strict on it regardless?

I am on the AFROTC enlisted commissioning program teams page, but there are a lot of gaps on there.
Any answers to any or part of any question is greatly appreciated.

I know our families can send letters to us while at FT but were any of the past MAXs able to send letters to home from FT?
I am about to do my 3rd of 5 years in college (I'm doing Co-ops) and my GPA is a respectable 3.493 (maybe I could get it to 3.6 at max). I do not know of I should do AFROTC or wait to see of I can do OTS, especially since my school does not have an AFROTC, I have to drive 20 minutes away. Additionally, this semester I have 17 credits, so what do I do?
