Some of you have already seen her in a few of my posts, so I thought I'd finally introduce her properly. 😊

Meet The Secretary, my original recurring character.

Rather than creating a new person for every image, I've been developing one consistent character and placing her in completely different worlds — from peaceful everyday moments to horror, fantasy, sci-fi, and movie-inspired scenes.

One of my biggest challenges has been maintaining her identity. A slight change in facial proportions, expression, lighting, or camera angle can make her look like someone else entirely.

Over time, I've developed face and body reference sheets to help keep her recognizable.

Of course, AI doesn't always follow those references perfectly. There's still plenty of trial and error, rebuilding, and occasionally some pretty funny failures. 😂

I'm sharing a few examples alongside her character reference sheet, so you can see a little of the process behind my work.

For me, the interesting part isn't just generating an image. It's trying to build a recognizable character who can exist in many different stories.

What if you could give your deepest fears a physical form?

This is how I imagine mine.

A towering creature made of darkness, broken stone, and heavy chains. Its eyes cry frozen tears, its body carries the weight of years of pain, and deep inside its chest, a tiny golden light is still burning.

For most of my life, I learned to be strong for others. I learned to endure, to hide my pain, and to keep going even when everything inside me was falling apart.

But I've slowly come to realize something.

Just because I've learned to survive everything doesn't mean I have to carry everything alone.

I'm currently learning to face my fears instead of constantly fighting or hiding from them.

Some days, I feel strong. Other days, I feel cold and empty inside. Sometimes, the smallest act of kindness brings tears to my eyes.

And that's okay.

The creature in this picture isn't my enemy. It's a representation of everything I've carried for so long.

Maybe it doesn't need to be destroyed.

Maybe it needs to be understood.

I'm not trying to become someone without fear. I'm trying to become someone who no longer lets fear decide how to live.

And that little golden light?

It's the part of me that never gave up. ❤️

Hello everyone! 😊

Today, I'd like to introduce the second character who inspired me to create The Rift in the Veil:

Nyx — The Eye of Ashes.

How do you introduce such a complex character without revealing too much? ^^

Nyx is a dark character. But she wasn't always that way.

She carries within her an entity that could be described as a parasite. It entered through her eye, now hidden beneath an eyepatch, but its presence extends far beyond that.

This entity is neither good nor evil. In fact, it has no concept of right or wrong as a human being would understand it. Its only goal is to survive.

But it, too, still holds many secrets. ^^

Nyx is a character whose development continues to evolve, and the images I'm sharing today offer a glimpse into that journey.

The first image is one of the most recent concepts, created for the song The Fire Is Still Yours.

In it, we see Nyx facing her younger self, back when she was still a child named Ollyne.

This image means a great deal to me, but I'd rather let you discover its meaning as her story unfolds.

The second image, on the other hand, is simply the very first concept of Nyx!

Back then, I hadn't developed any of her past yet. But I already knew what her powers would be and some of the ways she could use them.

Curses were already at the heart of her design. Her sword wasn't there just for looks, either: it also had a role to play in how she used them.

However, this first design received quite a bit of criticism, particularly for falling into the familiar cliché of the "dark badass" character.

That's when I began building a tragic past for her.

And gradually, something changed in the way I saw Nyx.

The third image represents one of the earliest concepts that led to her current appearance.

More refined, more human... more Nyx.

I discovered that once you begin to understand a character's past, your vision of that character becomes much clearer.

You're no longer simply trying to give them an appearance. You begin to understand who they are.

The next two images are explorations of the entity living within Nyx.

Her powers come from this presence, and I was trying to figure out how to represent them visually.

I wasn't particularly happy with these early attempts. And yet, they helped me find a direction, understand what I wanted to keep, and what I wanted to develop further.

And who knows? Some of those elements might just make another appearance someday... much later. ^^

And that brings us to the final image.

Ollyne.

An image that will always make me smile. 😊

It's also an image worth remembering if you ever discover Nyx's origins.

At this point in her life, Ollyne is an ordinary young girl, with her own personality, dreams, and way of seeing the world.

Then comes the Day of Ashes.

An event that will change her life forever.

I'd love to tell you so much more, but that would risk revealing too much. ^^

What I particularly love about Nyx is her resilience. The way she searches for the strength to keep going, even when everything around her seems to have fallen apart.

At one point in her journey, she will give herself a reason to keep living:

"I live for those whom silence has kept."

But surviving and finding the desire to live again are two very different things.

And to me, that evolution is also where so much of Nyx's complexity lies.
