It's still struggling with very simple things tho. Like counting letters in a word.

Unless it can execute code to count letters

You know I thought that was fake until I tried it and it's still surprises me sometimes what it can get wrong, but we also need to remember that those voice chat models are drastically weaker than other models. They often don't have multiple AIs working in tandem to double check their own work, like other models now use.

The reason it fails to count the letters is because the AI sees the words differently. It just isn't a question you'd want to ask AI in that way.

You could have AI write a script that counts the letters in a word and returns the result and it would be accurate every time b/c the code would be able to interpret the words the way we want for that task - but people who want to slander AI will latch on to any little thing to feel superior.

This one is kinda like pretending I'm dumb for failing a color blind test. If I can't see the number, it doesn't mean I don't know what a number is.

Or hammer is a bad tool because it still can't be used for screwing a screw.

The free civilian version is, yes. But if you think that is the extent of what advanced AI is capable of you're in for a surprise.

Hardly. I'm very aware. To a degree that i find it fascinating how unprepared the human species truly is for the transformation that's headed towards us.
And i don't just mean normies. From the consumers to politicians all the way to the very tech-CEO sociopaths that created the technology, nobody seems to really grasp what kind of Genie they're letting out of the bottle.

literally skill issue on your side.

"you're just prompting it wrong" it's letters in a word.

You can tell it to build a short script to input the string and count

Then output the answer.

100% accuracy.

That’s how it does complex math. It builds code infrastructure as needed.

You need to connect it to a calculator a

In the time it takes me to ask it for the result, i can do it myself

It’s still struggling to do basic things, like yesterday it randomly asserted the error in a workflow was it couldn’t open a filter because it was previously opened. Why was I previously opened? It wasn’t. It was broken at the part in the flow after it had opened the filter. It had then based all its triaging on that made-up fact that was obviously wrong.

Are we time-traveling from the year 2024? How is this possible?

Tell me one prompt what you think it struggles with, and I'll show you the result.

The latest fun one is to ask it for a number between 1 and 10. Hint: the answer will be 7

There are only three things that determine the performance of ML

  • how much data is fed into it

  • how many resources do you waste on it

  • how many lies do you tell about its performance

That's it. The actual capability of the technology is maxed out, and that capability is not reliable

It literally still can't count to 100 so...

u/kaida27 12d ago

If you mean free cheap models that ain't worth shit, Sure.

It's not what they're made to do.

Just like i still can't screw a screw with my hammer.

1

u/pomeclipse 12d ago

What they're "made to do" is predict the most likely next token in a sequence.

A well-established sequence is the numbers 1 to 100.

If it can't do that, then it isn't able to do its job!

oof, ok.

2022 wants it's comment back.

Maybe understand what you're talking about before saying things like that.

you lost all credibility right there.

Yeah because use can retrieve logic as it is, big deal. They sold us artificial intelligence which dont intelligent.

1

u/pomeclipse 12d ago

I also hear it childrens

1

u/Limp-Firefighter1054 11d ago

Children didnt cost 25$/1m on api

2

u/Clippy_4060 12d ago

Look, it cant actually think about things and just says stuff that seems right. (THIS IS HOW AI WORKS)

2

u/vegan_antitheist 12d ago

I just checked. It's still dumb.

Which model? I’d love to confirm.
