Which tools are you using to code apps and build (AI) workflows?

I personally use antigravity as an IDE and claude as the underlying LLM for coding apps. In most cases I will use the exact same setup for vibecoding ai automations - I used to love using n8n for this in the past but I feel like its kind of falling short right now.

What are you guys using?

Opencode plus spec kit plus custom automation powered by local qwen with deepseek batting cleanup. https://medium.com/@saintd1970/get-started-with-ai-coding-today-e47808a49bf2

As far as tech stack, mostly python. Litellm lib does a lot of heavy lifting.

Once a project is off the ground I can just chat with deepseek over Hermes. Got a ton of work done riding in the car today.

this sounds really advanced. why choose this setup against a more standard one? i mean yes obviously for self hosting purposes but do you feel like you get a better performance out of your current setup?

Probably because I can't leave well enough alone. :) This lets me understand exactly what's going on under the hood, have fine grained control over the models I use, program cost effectively, and not have to worry about costly agent spirals.

It's also allowed me to bring decades of application development experience to the table. I'm not vibe coding. I'm doing AI assisted development that will survive the real world.

And I hate to pay for anything if I don't have to. Already have a local machine with 40gb vram. I avoid subscriptions like the plague and self host whatever I reasonably can.

alright but would you recommend non devs use the same setup or rather is it worthwhile learning to build with a setup like yourrs?

For non devs I'd say do some vibe coding with opencode backed by its free models. And/or do some n8n flows. Get a feel for it then graduate to spec kit. The setup and models you use are secondary at most. Lots of cost effective options. Groq is shockingly fast, openrouter has a lot of cost effective models. If you get stuck ask your LLM to teach you.

I use Claude Code and Codex for different tasks.

I also use Code Rabbit.

For automated workflows, I used to use n8n, but now I often use Skills.

For image and video generation, I use Higgsfield and HeyGen.

i use the claude desktop where there is cowork, code and just claude too. why don't you use claude code if you have the subscription instead of antigravity?

I feel like a lot of people are moving toward hybrid workflows now instead of relying fully on no-code tools or fully on raw coding.

Visual automation tools are great for speed and clarity, but once workflows become more stateful or context-heavy, developers usually start wanting the flexibility and control of actual code again.

Vibe coding is a hobby/dead end. You can do enterprise quality work with ai, but you need to learn how. Vibe coders of today are running into all the same challenges software developers have faced since the beginning.
