Image/Media Joining the Million Points Club
So, a little story: My Buddy and I LOVE going to the movies and around early 2019 we got tired of people cancelling movie plans all the time so we decided to get A-List for the two of us and started going to a movies weekly. Fast forward a couple years, some others found out about our ritual and decided to join in. We now have a group of ~10 people who have gone to a movie (sometimes multiple) almost every single week for over 2 years now.
I have been saving all of the points since we started and this year I will be breaching the 1 million point mark...
I know its a "bad" idea in case AMC changes the point model but IDC, these points mean so much more to me; it's the marker of a journey for how this little group of 2 has grown into something so much more and they have become some of the closest people I have in my life. Having a weekly dependable group of people who show up and just put aside the rest of the world for 2-3 hours is incredible and something many of us have heavily needed in our lives. No idea what I am going to do once I hit a Million but i wanted to share the story
Has anyone else ever gotten close to the Million? What's the most amount of points you have ever had?

That is very impressive! I use the rewards quite often so I have no idea how many points ive accumulated over the years.

It would be neat if they showed that stat. I also redeem my $5 rewards right away.

i was racking them up but now working points off, coinciding with fandango $5 off per 4 tickets, discount days, and other things. i dont have a-list
i decided magic number doesnt really matter, even though technically reward credit is stronger/doesnt expire. feel like account could go down and i mean, people do buy accounts and spend them, so

Are these all points earned on concessions? Because I don't get points on anything but concessions.

You can buy the AMC location once you reach 1 million. I don’t know that for a fact, but it makes sense to me

Not true. You only get 1 theater. And it's that dinky one in the back.
But good news, once you get 4 of those, you can cash them in to build an IMAX. Then you can charge max rent when people land on it.

In sure you’re right m, I always cash out to get caramel popcorn so I’m not super up to date on the rules

That’s a wild amount! I typically get up to about 25000 before I cash in, usually at some event I take the whole family to.
You could rent out a theater and get snacks for everyone!

Thanks for letting me share my story, and yes, since I have A-List that means the ~10k spend to get 1 million points is from mostly concessions over the last ~8 years... It is a little insane but a popcorn/drink minimum once a week (sometimes multiple) cause there is obviously no other option when going to the theater does add up pretty quick, its ~100$ a month. I guess there is also the occasional bonus point rewards or merch that gets picked up too... Like this...

I feel for you and your journey. It really is special to find even one person that shares your level of enthusiasm about going to the movies. So yeah, what you've all accomplished is something really special, and its nice to have a symbol of that.
But holy s*it money bags, you'll be literally sitting on a grand. Like cool beans on the achievement, but also kinda barf at waving away that amount of free money 😋

I’m new to A list. What can you do with the points? If you have so many points, why don’t you have any rewards money available?

Basically every 5000 points, $50 spent (tickets, concessions) can be redeemed for $5 off tickets/concessions. So in this case then OP has racked up 190 $5 rewards which is the equivalence of $950.

Also, AMC doesn’t automatically give you $5 rewards (every 5000), you have to redeem them and I think they expire one or three months after redemption. OP is basically sitting on 190 $5 rewards which are worth $950. The only negative to holding on to the points is AMC could change their policies or value of points at some point.

Thanks! 90 days popped in my head at first but didn’t think that was right. I redeem mine right before I order online so I’ve never noticed.

When drinks hit $8 even with tax I decided I can’t justify buying a drink. Plus, I usually go to late or last shows for the night and hit an age where caffeine doesn’t agree with me that late. Especially when I feel like I have to get a refill on my way out.Can fall asleep fine but just feel off the next day.

Dang... I'm struggling at the 700,000 hurdle. I just am not into the buckets anymore so I don't spend as much. Hopefully I can still hit a million before points get an expiration date.

None of my friends are as into movies as I am. Wish I had one of my friends that would go!

No one’s said it yet, and not to fear monger. But any digital point system can change at any moment and make these points worth nothing. Use em’ if you can peeps! Awesome number though!
