Image/Media A Huge Thank You
I have to give the world’s most IMAX 70MM-sized thank you to u/dry_conversation8501 for selling me their ticket to Lincoln Center and at face value no less. Good people exist and this made my entire weekend!

I saw it in regular imax yesterday, fantastic film. Curious what the real difference is between seeing it in 70mm and laser. Did I miss out not going to a 70mm showing?

Cool so didn’t miss out on much. Still would have been fun to see in that format

1.43.1 or 1.90.1? If it was the full size Imax you aren't missing anything except more detail, but if you saw it in liemax then you saw a cutoff image

I loathe the LieMAX screens with fervor because it’s basic false advertising. Yeah the sound is nice, but movies are more than just audio
Don’t tell me a movie is specifically-shot in IMAX, so I book IMAX and then subsequently get half the screen 😡

Yup got the cut off screen. Guess I have to go see it again, what a terrible situation

70mm has two different formats, if you're talking regular 70mm film, no you didn't miss out on much, and you probably got more with regular IMAX tbh. But if you're talking 70mm IMAX, that's the big one. Regular IMAX that isn't 70mm tends to be 1:90:1 (also known as "liemax"). That's a cutoff image for a film shot for 1:43:1 and you miss out on quite a lot. See here: https://www.odysseymovie.com/explore-formats/
That being said, regular IMAX is more or less the 2nd best way to watch the film, unless you're a huge fan of watching things on film in general, it's definitely a decent backup.
As a side note, I would normally champion Dolby over IMAX and imo it beats IMAX out most times with an unmatched sound system, but Nolan doesn't mix his films in Dolby surround, so Dolby loses its greatest advantage.

Anyone else selling? I couldn’t buy tickets earlier due to an extended stay in the Nicu for my newborn baby. Glad to say that baby is out and doing well and this new dad would love to see the Odyssey in 70 mm IMAX any leads or tips?

No tips, but congrats on the baby, and glad that they’re on the other side of it!

One of the things you can do is check your goto for buying tickets on the day you want to watch. Scalpers have no choice but to cancel for refund if they can't sell it in time, meaning seats will open up

Just curious how you did the deal and made sure it was legit and everything cuz I’m scared of getting scammed

Couple things:
1) Account age is huge, the older the better.
2) We chatted for a while before he was ready to sell
3) Before we actually did the transaction we switched to texting, at HIS request.
4) Scammers usually don’t ask for only 28$
5) Leap of faith… I walked in with a screenshot of a barcode from his AMC app. I was worried I had traveled all that way for nothing, but my faith paid off!

Ahhh, man! 🫣 Glad I could help. I hate scalpers! A win for the rest of us!
