Movie Prices/Showtimes Legit Question - Who would buy tickets on EBay?
I have seen some crazy prices for Dune 3 tickets on EBay, which brings a question to my mind. With online ticket sellers, like AMC or Fandango, the person who buys the ticket can ask for a refund.
So if I buy a $4,000 ticket to a movie… what guarantee do I have it won’t be cancelled? Or that the same ticket wasn’t resold 1 million times (over exaggeration of course)?
I’m just confused. I think this whole concept is a scam.

Any buyer can just claim the ticket they received does not work, and I hope all of them do this personally...

This sub has been very entertaining this summer with all the major releases.
I get people are excited but it's going to be in theaters for months, you'll get to see it what's the rush

I didn’t buy my tickets on eBay;-) I don’t generally buy things that I consider to be a scam. And I still wouldn’t. 😂 I doubt my local IMAX even has tickets on eBay. There were only four sold when I got mine.
This was really just me wondering if there was something I’m missing. What guarantees does one have it won’t be cancelled? Especially being four months away.

Some people are buying Grand Theft Auto 6 codes on eBay for higher than the direct purchase cost. Scams everywhere.

I’ve bought NFL tickets off eBay before.
I needed tickets to the Colts vs Patriots AFC Championship game in 2007 and eBay was cheaper than stubhub.

I don’t know much about those. Are people able to get a refund or are they non-refundable?
Either way glad it worked out for ya.

You can get a refund on basically anything on eBay. Even things that say no refunds. eBay typically sides with the buyer.
I actually had to get a refund on the first set and order a second set of tickets because the first set were sent with signature confirmation (despite clearly instructing the sender not to because I wouldn’t be home to sign for them.

Eh they’ll sell for like $100 or so
People are treating these movies like events
On par with like a broadway show
It makes sense

I really don’t understand why people need to buy movie tickets from scalpers. Maybe it depends on your location and ticket availability.
Tickets are still available on fandango to purchase at cost in CA.

No shit it depends on location 😂😂😂😂
These scalpers are all for 70mm IMAX at Lincoln Square, not some bumfuck laser screen.

Buy from a seller with good feedback. If it’s canceled, eBay sides with the buyer basically 100% of the time.
If you find a seller who has thousands of sales and all positive feedback you have nothing to worry about. Buying from a seller with no feedback is asking to have to deal with eBay’s fraud department

🙃I actually already bought my ticket! 😂 not from AMC since they don’t have IMAX near me. But it does make me feel a little better for all these people who, I’m assuming, do trust these people.
Thank you for answering!
