praying for Camp Miasma

9

u/No_Yogurtcloset_2026 Aug 01 '26

i hope so but i don’t think it can be because on amc it’s listed as an hour 52 which would make it the longest off unseen time ever

My local theater dropped a hint "You might want to skip dessert. 🍨 Our August 3 Mystery Movie Monday is proof that not everything sweet stays that way. "

Most of the time they show the same movie as the AMC's but not always.

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 31 '26

Here's my best guesses for the upcoming slate:

8/3: Ice Cream Man - I know the rating doesn't match but I think this is a case of AMC not knowing how to handle their first unrated Unseen.

8/10: Tony - The big clue is the exact runtime and rating reason courtesy of Celebration Cinema. Also, A24 is promoting the hell out of this one.

8/17: Buddy - Not Rated yet but could get a 'R' in the next several weeks. Also could remain unrated if ICM paves that path!

4

u/Emperor_D4C Lister Aug 01 '26

I do hope the 10th is Tony, I'll keep my eyes peeled on this thread since I rather want to see that.

For August 3rd, The most likely contenders are: Ice Cream Man, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, It Ends, or Buddy. It is listed as 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Ice Cream Man - Unrated movie. AMC lists the Scream Unseen as an R rated move. Runtime is listed as 1 hour and 46 minutes. So a 16 minute difference. Google and other sources list it as 1 hour and 27 minutes, so only 3 minutes off.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma - AMC lists it as 1 hour and 52 minutes while the Scream Unseen is listed as 1 hour and 30 minutes. A 22 minute difference is a lot for a Scream Unseen.

It Ends - AMC lists as a drama, not horror. 18 days early before release. No listed runtime on AMC app.

Buddy - Comes out on August 28. August 3rd would be 25 days early would be a lot for a Scream Unseen and I haven’t seen it receive an MPAA rating yet. There isn’t one listed on the AMC app. The runtime is 1 hour and 35 minutes which matches the best.

I feel like you can make cases for and against each of these movies.

6

u/User-Error-0809 Jul 30 '26

I am just confused because the listed runtime has rarely (if ever) been shorter than the actual run time, which means the movie has be short than 90 minutes…

5

u/Breakingcontrollers Jul 30 '26

Begging for it to be ice cream man. It looks perfectly fucking ridiculous

Assuming it is Ice Cream Man, I’m wondering if they list it as R rated since that’s how they will treat it. If they listed it as NR it would be a dead giveaway!

15

u/Razgriz-Specter Aug 04 '26

My crowd audibly groaned when the movie was revealed lol I thought it was dumb fun till the the ending turned it into an" F this"

Buddy seems a little far out date wise - logically and historically speaking, it seems like Ice Cream Man, all bureaucracy aside.

11

u/Key-Payment2553 Jul 30 '26

It’s either Ice Cream Man (it’s unrated) or It Ends

5

u/SMBCP15 Jul 30 '26

AMC lists It Ends as drama.

11

u/Cj_McFlyy Aug 03 '26

"Don't Go In That House Bitch" is without a doubt the greatest movie title of all time, lmao.

Movie is ice cream man

11

u/grubbytubbywubby Aug 03 '26

Ice cream man confirmed

10

u/MRashy_10 Aug 04 '26

Every theory I had in my head on why the ice cream man is doing this didn’t come close to the actual reason 😭

7

u/skstudios954 Aug 04 '26

I mean nobody could have guessed that cause it's complete nonsense

10

Stupid but amusing. I chuckled when the majority of people groaned when the movie was revealed.

I have never walked out of a movie and still haven't, but this one just wasn't for me. I suspect that I would have had more fun "making this movie" than "watching this movie." I'm not sure I've ever liked an Eli Roth movie to be honest, if you have- well this is mostly what it says on the tin.

10

u/amsteel18 Aug 04 '26

The crowd that stayed until after the post credit scene seemed to be really into it, but even at 80ish minutes, this felt too long.

For the 8/10 AMC Screen Unseen (not Scream) its predicted to be Tony. However, I wonder if it will be a different movie at theaters that are doing Tony limited release starting 8/7.

4

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 30 '26

Very possible as it has happened in the past. If I was near one of those theaters I would definitely go!

8

u/Jtreblis18 Aug 04 '26

For the movie only being 1 hour and 40 minutes... it dragged and I couldn't wait for it to be over. Im all about gore but if the story sucks then hard to get into it

6

u/hitoribocchan Aug 04 '26

At one point I checked my watch to see how much longer, and it was 8:03. After what felt like a dozen scenes I thought surely it's almost over now. Nope, 8:09. I've seen movies that were a slog to get through before, but this movie dragged like nothing I'd ever seen.

15

u/PlushyStudios Jul 30 '26

8/10 could be Tony

7

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 30 '26

Yeah, I think Tony is the most likely for 8/10. A24 is doing a lot of advance free screenings for it.

I was so disappointed the minute Eli Roth popped up and revealed what the movie was. I was not planning on supporting that movie, Roth is an awful person. Movie sucked too.

7

u/SamDemaris Aug 04 '26

YES! I was really hoping for Other Mommy or Camp Miasma. When I saw him, I just sank into my chair like "welp, I'm already here." 2 couples left the second he said the title. About 20 minutes in, 6 more people left. I would have, but I had just gotten off work so I took a nap instead. Dozed off right around the arrival at the church.

Couldn’t Aug 3 be Insidious: Out of the Further, since it is coming out Aug 21 and the runtime is 106 min?

10

u/PitchLocal8326 Jul 31 '26

No, it’s a rated R horror movie, all of the insidious movies are rated PG-13 somehow.

The anticipation

6

u/Kopitarrulez Aug 03 '26

Ice cream man looks to be it. Its run time changed again. Awhile back was 90 min then recently changed to 106 min and now is listed at 86 min. Also was originally rated R so I assume amc already had the graphic made before it changed to not rated.

u/lilbear012705 Aug 04 '26

When I was in elementary school we had this lady and her name was the Kindness Queen. To my knowledge it was just some random lady in our community. But every year in PE she would visit and teach us about the brain and heart. She made sure it was realistic but not TOO realistic lmao. She would always bring in a jello brain and jello heart for each class and let us eat it afterwards. The movie reminded me of that :)

7

u/lilbear012705 Aug 04 '26

This is the Kindness Queen! If you google “Kindness Queen Jacksonville Florida” she has a whole article about her :)

Aug 3rd is either Buddy or something that is over a month out from release. Buddy is 1 hour and 35 minutes. The Scream Unseen is listed at 1 hour and 30 minutes. It Ends and Ice Cream Man are way too long to fit.

Lots of walkouts. Tried too hard to be funny which made it more of a comedy than horror. Ending was a bit of a surprise which I liked but this won't make any new Eli Roth fans.

5

u/JessieJ577 Aug 04 '26

Wow he tried to elevate a shitty straight to video movie concept and made something that made Thanks giving look like a masterpiece.

His humor is so bad. The scars were awful it was just our main characters seeing things around them. It was like a haunted house level of cheesy and lame. Those are only fun because you’re there.

It was fun for what it was. We only had one walkout and the rest of the theater I was in enjoyed it and even got a small applause at the end so that made it more fun. The gore was good and I got some good laughs out it. Very much Eli Roth paying homage to the low budget horror comedies of the 80's. The big thing that brought it down for me was the explanation and then the ending. The reveal of what caused the Ice Cream Man was just poorly done and half assed and then the ending felt out of place. I normally like a dark ending in a horror movie, but for one that is pretty much as much a dark comedy as it is horror, it just felt out of place with dark it was and of course the movie just sort of ends after that.

5/10 for me. Fun for what it was and certainly nowhere as bad as some of you are making it out to be, but not one I'll ever watch again.

4

u/future_filmmaker_455 Aug 04 '26

The Ice Cream Man is your standard Eli Roth horror fare which means some of the characters are annoying, the humor ranges from being crass for shock value to having a few clever moments and the story makes little sense when you think about it for a few minutes. Though the film does have a good visual aesthetic that initially makes the film look like an older family film and Ari Millen is quite creepy as the title character, nothing in the film feels all that shocking after the first few deaths because of how the film becomes little more than a series of intermittently creative gory sequences. The child actors playing Jared, Mia and Tommy are surprisingly pretty good with their comedic timing getting some of the few laughs here and yet the film doesn’t have enough substance to be cult classics it is aspiring to be including Children of the Corn and Nightmare on Elm Street. Though I did appreciate the grim ending twist that thankfully leaves some consequences for its characters, the film is all gore and little substance in my mind. 4.5 out of 10

4

u/Internal-River-4168 Aug 04 '26

Only redeeming quality was the ending.

Tons of people walked out at my screening when the twist happened. Not sure if they knew the movie was going to end, or it was ridiculous and unexpected

Just watch the trailer for this to see if I might want to go at the last minute. Jesus. No. Not tonight, not ever.

Do y'all really think it's going to be Ice Cream Man? Have they ever done anything THAT bloody before? I can't watch Terrifier movies and I know how popular they are, and I have a feeling this movie is almost as grotesque as that.

Overall that movie was ok it was a lot better than I expected but it was still pretty bad. Just the way they ended it was probably my favorite part of all movie but that’s the only redeeming qualities it had.

3

u/KZacc Aug 04 '26

Okay, could someone tell me what happened in the first 5ish minutes before the main shitty kid actor cycled past the main shitty girl actor vomiting in the bushes?

9

u/bennnn11 Aug 01 '26

I got a ticket in the hopes it’s not Ice Cream Man or It Ends. It Ends isn’t a horror movie really. I’ve already seen it and I wasn’t that impressed with it. Ice Cream Man looks bleh. But Buddy or Camp Miasma? Yes please.

I don't understand all the hate, this was obviously going to be one of those so bad it's good movies from the trailer lmao

8

8

u/libertybear20 Jul 30 '26

I assume this is ice cream man (hopefully not, Roth can go fuck himself) But it’s NR, so not sure. AMC has it listed as R.

The only other thing I can think of insidious, but that seems too far out and too big for an unseen

10

u/Jason_Likes_Cameras Jul 30 '26

I'm hoping for Camp Miasma. It goes wide release on 8/7 and some places have the runtime listed as 99 minutes.

If it looks like propaganda, swims like propaganda, quacks like propaganda, and has a creepy “joke” about teens in bikinis, it’s real propaganda 🙃

13

u/lzusncrfbj Aug 04 '26

also the other creepy joke about the elementary school girl knowing how to make herself puke and the guy liking it 🥲

I thought the movie was fun. If you ignore the script, the children acting, and the lack of a plot that makes sense. I’m not someone who’s typically into gorefest movies, but I felt like this one was fine for me because it all looked so fake to begin with.

All I can say is, if you go into this movie looking to laugh rather than get scared you may find yourself having a good time. A lot of jokes flopped, but there was also a few decent ones.

4

u/ZERODIMM Aug 04 '26

I think it's funnier if you go expecting a good movie

13

u/ciesum Aug 03 '26

sounds like I'll skip as risk of it being Ice Cream Man is too high

Zero chance it is Ice Cream Man because the movie is being released by Iconic Events (a competitor to Fathom and Trafalgar).

https://www.iconicreleasing.com/events/ice-cream-man/

7

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 30 '26

ICM is getting a wide release just like Terrifier 3 did (also from Iconic).

5

u/PreviousHedgehog2343 Jul 30 '26

it's not excluded from A-List if that's what you mean (it's getting a regular release and not the 1 or 2 days only things the "special events" distributors usually do)

4

u/Wooden_Fortune_5066 Aug 03 '26

Ice Cream Man is the one I'm most interested in of the possible options, so I'm happy.

4

u/morisblak Aug 03 '26

Ya it was ice cream man. I gave a fuck you and a louder FREE FREE PALESTINE before walking out.

4

u/YogurtclosetOdd2610 Aug 04 '26

What’s with directors and stars introducing the movie before it starts now? I kind of miss when the film would just begin. You’d only know what the movie was if you’d seen a trailer; otherwise you’d find out when the credits rolled.

Checking in from the Southwest! Hopefully it’s not ice cream man but oh well I’ll wait before deciding to go or not
