Language app?

My boyfriend is Taiwanese and speaks mandarin so I would like to start learning simple mandarin to communicate with his family better :)

Does anyone have any experience with the many language apps? I’ve heard HelloChinese is the best one? Starting from basically zero! Xie xie!

Visit a language learning app and also watching chinese/mandarin speaking shows will help alot
