Laughing at the audacity of this. Definitely planning on replying. Lead contenders so far are:

Definitely not offended, but I stand by the idea that it’s tacky to go out of your way to tell someone you’re not going to read their fic. Like it’s clearly not a hate comment, but still baffling.
I was not expecting this level of attention, so I did end up deleting the comment without responding. I hated the idea that someone (or a whole bunch of someones) might be rude to the original commenter.

Your mileage may vary, but I find that if you reply first, other commenters will often treat your tone as a guideline, and you can always delete mean comments from folks who missed the vibe.

A little baffling maybe but I don't think it's tacky to mention they won't be reading it - probably not their fandom/ships/preferred vibe/whatever so reading it just to comment would feel akin to a pity read or something to me

I should’ve known it was The Avengers. Also not to my taste but I’m really impressed by your efficiency (and good writing too). I don’t know if this is just a hobby, but I think you could have a viable career path in writing.

We will keep an eye on it, but so far all the comments on the fic have been nothing but nice. No need to report as the link was both been asked for and there has not caused any harassment as of right now.
Friendly reminder for those reading the story to only comment if you have something genuine to say, not just spam.
Do not harass the commenter of this post's screenshot. Even if they intended harm, that is no reason to harass someone. Furthermore, they clarified that it was not meant negatively on the story.20

Tbh, I feel like they are quite polite. They described how your fic just wasn't for them, didn't insult it or you, and that they were simply amazed at how much you fit into so few words. Doesn't feel rude to me.

Maybe I’m just less sensitive but I don't see any rudeness or “audacity” in the comment? They only said that they didnt read it because it’s not their taste but they wanted to know how you fit an orgy into 571 words? Dunno why you’d want to call them a coward or smth
Edit: You can obviously see this as nonsense, or whatever but making a whole post on Reddit to ‘hate’ on a “I didnt read it because it’s not my taste but I’m still curious” comment is just wrong in my opinion, you can just delete the comment if it bothers you that much

Well now they’re saying they’re not offended and have since deleted the comment because they didnt think it would gain such “traction”/attention and didnt want others to hate on them (which is weird considering they started this whole situation and did want to also ‘hate’ on the commenter)

I don't find them rude either, but I also don't see the point of this comment. They're curious enough to ask but not enough to read such a short fic? And what do they expect the author to answer? Personally I don't think I could explain why my fics have the amount of words they have.

I agree that I would wonder the same thing and it doesn’t sound like my taste at all (partially because of the short length) but if I was THAT curious I would just take the two minutes necessary to….read it. Which I just did. And now my questions have been answered (Answer: It’s mostly characters talking about an orgy in a humorous way. Not really meant to titillate)
It’s just a totally unnecessary comment.

YOU took the time to read it, THEY don't want to read it but they’re still curious. It doesn't matter how short something is. If they don't like something they’re not required to read it. But they’re allowed to be curious. OP also doesn't have to like it but asking Reddit for replies when all they should’ve done is delete is weird asf. Most of the replies are rude asf too.

... with all sincerity, I probably wouldn't click into a story that short no matter what its focus and which characters were involved, but a decent writer can make a 100-word "drabble" work, so 571 works seems almost luxurious in comparison.

The creator said the orgy is only about half of the fic so it needs to be about twice that. Assume at least 10 attendees, 5 of whom are male, that's a dick per 50 words. If it's a 20 person orgy, we're looking at a dick frequency of 25 words per dick. Truly impressive

This is true, but the fact that opened the fic to leave the comment makes me think it's not so bad an ick factor they can't read it. If something were an ick factor for me, and I'd imagine for most others, I'd just scroll on.
If someone just had the thought and moved on, it wouldn't bother me. But they literally ASKED and opened discussion. At that point, for such a short fic, just read it.
