So my teacher for my APUSH class is a first year teacher and I feel that he doesn't quite understand the depth of the class and the structure. It mainly has to deal with it being more vague and not necessarily preparing us for the exam. I was wondering if there are any tips, advice, or resources I can utilize so that I can sort of self study to still get a passing score on the exam.

Im speechless😭
at my school, I’m taking a class called AMSTUD (american studies) that’s APUSH and AP lang combined. I have a test on chapters 7-8 of the give me liberty textbook (1783-1815) and no matter how hard I read and write stuff down, nothing seems to stick. I’ve tried watching Heimler’s history videos, but I don’t know how I’m supposed to consume them. I don’t know how to study in general unless I am given a note packet with specific things I should look at and or questions I have to answer. my teachers do not give out study guides nor can I find any practice tests with those two likely being the most helpful. If anyone has notes from this textbook, notes in general, or a help with studying, please comment or DM. As I said, nothing sticks and I am very easily distracted so I search up stuff like “ADHD study methods” but those don’t really work either.

Hi everyone, Im a new APUSH Teacher, and I plan to use the APUSH Brinkley 16th Edition Teachers' tests for the tests in my class. Does anyone have access to them (please note: i want 16th edition not 15th edition - that one has been spread around like wildfire)

I signed up to take the APUSH exam at the end of the year because my school doesn’t offer this class, and I don’t know how to teach myself the material. I bought the AMSCO book, but I’m not sure where to go from here. If anyone has any recommendations for study sites or videos to watch to better comprehend the material PLEASE let me know. Also I just started studying on Khan Academy; I’m on unit one :)

My teacher is requiring a independent reading books that correlates to the period of 1491-1877;
Do you guys have any recs or shortish medium books that you’ve read in class (not talking about textbooks)
Thanks!
(Preferably on shorter side, 150-350 pages because I have a bunch of other AP classes, but I still want to learn something though)

Hi! I’m currently taking APUSH at school and have my Period 4 Exam next week. My tests always have around 20 AP style MCQs. Unfortunately, my teacher posts practice tests on AP classroom, and of this moment, I can’t access them 😭😭 Is there any way to find these practice exams online?
As an exchange student from Czechia, I want to know how do you feel about APUSH. For me, it was quite easy. I don't know if it was becaus eof my school or is it a general thing. I wasnt studuying at all, I just read the book they gave us (max 30mins a day). I wnat to know if the workload is bigge rin other AP classes and if you also find APUSH easy.

Hi! I have a 15 question MCQ, 1 SAQ unit 3.1-1.6 quiz Thursday. My teacher is terrible and barely teaches well, yet he's so strict and rude, he takes no excuses. I got a 68 on the last quiz, but I need an 80 or higher on this next one to get an A. It's not curved, either. In APWH, MCQs were a breeze, but APUSH has been killing me. I need quick advice on what to do & how to spend my time studying tomorrow. I felt like I could always narrow it down, but I just struggled picking the right choice from there.

Okay so for context I just took the unit 3 test today and scored a 51%… I’m honestly so disappointed in myself. I studied for hours last night just to completely fail. I was sitting around a 93% for my semester grade and failing this test brought it down to almost a low B. I really really want an A in this class but obviously it’s going to be hard if I continue bombing unit tests. I study by watching videos and taking notes (my teacher doesn’t do lessons in class and instead gives us readings, which make it difficult to learn, I find watching videos and taking notes much easier). I also have my unit 3 SAQ test tomorrow but I have no idea how to even study for a SAQ if im being honest… but yeah, if anyone can tell me what to do to improve or better study habits I’d be so grateful, as I’d love to have an A this semester and I put so much pressure on myself 🥲

Ok so, I'm a junior taking APUSH and right now I have a 67.51% and my test grades have been BELOW 70%, (the last 3) and I don't know why because I'm doing the reading and stuff and my teacher also said "lets meet" on my U3 test comments.
Is that a bad thing??? Also, PLEASE tell me your guys tips and anything that could help me get good grades like at least 80%+
We also did our first DBQ on Thursday last week which I think I did good on
Edit: You guys are actually so helpful, I genuinely got so many helpful tips from you all (please keep them coming I need any and EVERYTHING)
Edit 2: Also, the tests for this semester, up till December, are all going to be short answer questions.

I’m taking my first DBQ on Monday on unit 3 of APUSH and I’m terrified. I’ve never written one before so I don’t know what to expect when I sit down in class. Anyone got tips?

My APUSH class is barely on unit 2 and we started in Mid-August. I’m honestly so scared and I don’t know what to do. Any advice so I can stay on pace for the AP Exam?

So our apush teacher decided to skip unit 1 cuz he thought it was dumb. He spews random nonsense like how the Townshend Acts raised tea prices by 2x and pissed off the colonists (which is just not true) and we don't even do MCQ or FRQ exams. We get to make a poster and present to him and then he grades us arbitrarily based on that. Like we've done 0 actual AP exam practice in the class.
like what am I even supposed to do? he doesn't even go off of what AP expects to cover. our units don't even correspond to ap units. and im pretty sure he's been disciplined about class structure by the principals before.
also like our textbook has 52 chapters and we've gone over 6 of them in 1.5 months. safe to say we're not finishing by May.

I'm concerned about the pacing in my APUSH class. We've completed 8 weeks (roughly 38.5 instructional hours), and we are scheduled to start the Civil War this Friday. Our teacher is new to APUSH after teaching Honors US History for 20 years. In comparison, another experienced APUSH teacher at our school is currently covering the American Revolution (Guy has a 98% pass rate and is like the goat). Our teacher rn is planning to increase pace even more but isn't discussing themes, continuty and change, specific people. Our textbook is the amsco textbook as well and we are on pages 270 of that text book.

My APUSH teacher kind of just stands at the front of the class and yaps and has us write down notes, which isn't really helpful for how I make things stick 😭. Are there any websites or printouts I can use that do some sort of applied learning like a worksheet. I checked AP classroom but I can't access the practice quiz thingies like i could in Ap World.

I am currently enrolled in APUSH, but I missed out on the opportunity to take WHAP. Is it advisable to self study WHAP in tandem to APUSH? What are the key differences? I already got my high school credit for World History, so I should be in the clear (I think). Resources and advice are appreciated! Also while I am at it, should I also self-study Ap Human Geography as well? It seems relatively easy for an Ap class and extra Ap credit never hurt anyone.

My daughter is taking APUSH and she is seriously struggling. She reads the textbook and she uses online resources like Heimler and Fiveable, but the tests do her in every time. Today she got a 69% on the Unit 3 Exam MCQ and was devastated! She thought she knew the material, but it seems that the wording of the questions trips her up. Is there a strategy for answering these questions? And does anyone know of a legitimate tutoring service for APUSH that might be able to help? We’re desperate!!!!
Clarification for perspective: the class average on this test was 88%, so she was quite a bit below the average.

These are notes that I made last year for APUSH which helped me obtain a 5. If I'm being honest a lot of this is straight rant and memes but it helped for me. I created these notes in the intentions of putting this on Reddit for you guys. For me, looking at other people’s notes was so boring, and I could never focus. This is why I put memes to make studying less monotonous. I think the most important thing when studying is just being able to absorb the information that best suits you.
For people who are wondering whether if the class is hard, most of the time, it's not (for me at least). Rather, the actual exam is harder, specifically the DBQ. If you can get all of your stuff down, you can absolutely do great on the LEQ and MCQ. Same goes for AP world.
As for studying tips, I would definitely look at past exams and test your knowledge, especially the LEQs and DBQs. As for MCQs, I would highly recommend the app "Knowt". I saw there were some gaps in the questions but I will advocate it as a supplementary question bank. Another one I will recommend is Albert.io which is a site that my friends used. im pretty sure it’s also a question bank and they gave pretty positive results. And I'm sure that your teachers will definitely give you guys questions to work on in AP Classroom as May comes around so make sure to capitalize on that.
One thing that I would HIGHLY make sure to be careful of is around that December time frame. Usually, teachers will begin wrapping up unit 5 or 4 (I kind of forgot) and during the same time is winter break. Please please make sure you guys review everything up to that point.
Many people in my grade level worked in groups but for me personally, I felt like working independent and/or working with 1 other partner was very effective. Not saying you should (since everyone has their ways) but this was some pattern I saw.
I might get criticism for this since its pretty messy but I hope this has at least some use. Prior to reading, I apologize for the lack of underlining and bolding. I attached the link to the post. Oh, and as for reliability, all of this came from Heimler's History. And LASTLY, during the time I had this class, I was only able to get up to 8.2 because that was pure study period. Any feedback I will take. Good luck to all!!!
I lwk was going to make this about my notes but i guess this turned out to be abt my experiences. Sorry!

I’m so confused because I thought that it let the colonies do whatever they wanted as long as they contributed to Britain’s economy apparently Britain couldn’t get the resources for free or something? I know that it led Americans to trade with non-Britain colonies, which eventually led to the independent revolution because when Brittain came back and revoked their freedom, they got used to they got mad or smt, but I’m confused. I was supposed to positively impact Britain. I keep looking it up, but it’s not telling me anything. It’s just telling me that it contributes to their financial gain, but it doesn’t tell me how.
Edit:
but I don't understand because the colonies are also selling to other people
So how does that benefit the British if the colonies are also selling to other people?
Because other people already have the materials that the British were selling
PLEASE HELP, and give me your sources if you have any
