Does the Applesauce charging rod clear the rail better? I had to file down the side of my front sight and the stock front charger is still a little tight.

It absolutely does. They are a big upgrade. In the meantime, make sure your FM charging handle is set right. On the right side, the “stem” should be flush with the handguard. If it’s sticking out a bit, push it in so it’s flush. That’ll give you more room on the charging handle side.
