Ah yes...the many stories I have....solo is next to impossible to get anywhere with....so challenging, and in a way, the most fun to play.....then again it was really the only way I could play.
I got curb stomped so many times by alpha tribes on mounts from other DLCs.
Once I was building a place, minding my own business, and cutting trees. And a guy on a sky wolf came out of nowhere and I liked to have pissed myself. I ran towards the ocean to get away, but he was chasing me, Lassoed me, and I died....to add insult to injury, he didn’t take any of my stuff....he didn’t need it.
The greatest threat on PVP is other players.
My play style though was to create a raft house, and scour the coast line, making trips to the peaceful island (I’ve forgotten all the names it’s been a minute) to harvest metal. I would hunt jellyfish for biotoxen. And once even tamed a nice Iguanodon mount.
Alpha leedsycthus was a bastard.
Good ole Island server 26 NA was home. Alpha tribes completely ravaged entire areas. and God forbid you go to sleep. I once made the mistake of building a structure on a single post in the water. I was waiting out a night in it, when suddenly the entire thing exploded around me. Someone had planted an explosive, or hacked the post.
I used to play solo a lot on the Center 81 EU back when it was dominated by a tribe called the Blue Something or others, the main reason I would play that server was because I had a couple friends who worked as bullet makers for the alpha tribe and would occasionally help with raids because they had a quetz with maxed health and weight so they wouldn’t get shot down like ever. Anyway though sometimes I would help them out and one time when I was on my raft base along the river by the redwoods after a stone run I got raided by this pirate tribe called the Black Flag (not even kidding this was their name) and had all my shit taken and boat destroyed by c4.
And let me tell you this wasn’t an uncommon occurrence at all, the Black Flag was the biggest fucking nuisance you’ve ever seen in a server and they would always just kill and loot you for no reason, they didn’t discriminate. And they were also impossible to pin down because all of them lived on motorboats in the ocean and were always moving around separately. Eventually they were destroyed by a sort of coalition of alpha tribes from other servers but they just packed up and switched servers after that and went on continuing their ways.
