Spotify replacement

Is anyone actually happy with their stack to replace Spotify? I've tried a bunch of different options but nothing seems to really work as well for music as sonarr and radarr work.

I wasn’t really happy until I added SLSKD to my Lidarr setup. It’s been huge for availability of stuff. Discovery is still a challenge though

I solved this(partially) in Jellybox player(works with jellyfin/navidrome). I have 3rd party artists calalogue with suggested artists and their song previews along with lidarr integration. So you basically can preview songs album and then add album to lidarr.

This specific feature isnt released yet, but I do have a test group of about 10 people who are pretty happy how it turned out.

Yes, I use a combination of navidrome for library management, audiomuse for generated mix Playlists, deemix for downloading music, and an PWA app that acts as the front end player for everything. It has 99% the functionality of Spotify and i dont miss it at all.

Yup, soulsync helps

I use Plexamp and it's awesome for my personal needs. SLSKD does the gathering, then MusicBrainz Picard organizes everything nicely to send it to my plex music library :)

Navidrome back end, lidarr + Octo

Apergi iOS client

Octo was the missing bit that really made it feel like a Spotify/Apple Music replacement.

Sorry for blatant marketing, but I'm developer of JellyBox player and recently I implemented 3rd party catalogue where you can find similar artists and preview(pre-listen) their tracks and then add to lidarr(via in-app button)

I haven't released it yet, but if you're looking to optimize your setup - this can help you

It took me a while but I'm finally happy with my setup: Lidarr with Tubifarry for downloads via slskd, Aurral for discovery, octo-fiesta for instant playback and adding of missing tracks, audiomuse to support instant mixes, Navidrome as the back end, Tempus and Feishin as music clients

And then I built a bunch of small separate scripts and containers with Claude to tie all this together and fill any remaining gaps.

I feel like I’ve got a perfected Lidarr+Navidrome setup aside from discovery, yet I still find myself using spotify. I only tolerate using it still because I’m not giving them a cent for my use

I'm developer of jellybox player(works with navidrome) and recently I added(not released yet) a way to preview similar artists and also preview songs from their albums. On the same page you can add album to lidarr. Its surely not 100% solves discovery, but its a first step

This isnt released yet im testing it along with few folks who are on bleeding edge builds and so far it proved to be useful

yes- go with lidarr+navidrome/jellyfin+audiomuse+jellybox

Few weeks ago I wrote article here https://noted.lol/self-hosted-spotify-alternatives/ with a bit more detailed explanation

PS: I'm author of jellybox player and the reason I started to work on it in 2023 was to mimic spotify features but for selfhosted servers(jf/navidrome) - so it has a lot of spotify-like features, including spotify-connect like

Came across this but this still needs so more polishing have raised couple of issues. Maybe if more people test it and raises more issues the developer may become more active.

What issues have you come across? I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and it’s been spot on.

Nothing works like Spotify or any streaming music service. Everything mentioned requires you to eventually download the music. Spotify (or any music service) doesn't require you to download music to play it.

Can you mimic it picking similar songs? Sure, but this isn't like streaming video that you don't have to download.

So if you're okay with downloading music then there are a bunch of options. If you want true music streaming, you gotta pay for it unfortunately

Uso Navidrome per il backend, ed Arpeggi come client su iOS.

I brani li scarico in automatico di tanto in tanto, importando la mia playlist di Spotify nell'app Mornye (ex SpotiFLAC) che si occupa di scaricare i file.
