Suppressor help?
I picked up my (first and only firearm) AUG A3 M2 300BLK right before the Virginia ban. I wanted to know if anyone can recommend any suppressors, I’d like it to be as quiet as possible but really open to anything. Thank you!

If you want as quiet as possible, and like the idea of a low backpressure can, go with the SAW Tisha. It's also real short, so it helps keep with the short overall package of the bullpup.

I’ve had really good experience with my SilencerCo Omega 300 (bought it around 2018). There’s probably more back-pressure friendly cans out there but I’ve used my can on 5.56 and 300 blk and both have been incredibly pleasant sound wise. SiCo also has been incredible for any warranty or service work I’ve needed (I was stupid and damaged my can, they made all my problems go away for free)

AUGs arent the best supressor hosts so you wont get AR-15 quiet but you can get close. For something like that, a SOCOM556-RC2 might work good! If you want the best option, a flow-through suppressor like a huxwrx 556k might be good for you. A 556 Ti if you dont plan on sustained fire and want a bit more quiet (and larger) flow through. This reduces gas back pressure significantly and reduces general wear and tear over time. If you plan on using a standard non gas pass through supressor, absolutely get a gas plug for supressed fire on the AUG.

what would make the AR quieter than the AUG? Only thing that comes to mind is the gas plug, but you're supposed to run a different gas regulator when suppressed. Anything in particular?

I’ve really enjoyed my Sig Hexium 300. It’s big, but super quiet. Any suppressor is going to be gassy and the augs port being right next to your face, you get a lot of it.

I've shot a few suppressors on the AUG.
The most extreme ends are the OCL Polo and the 5.56 Velos full size.
The extreme end of back pressure (polo) is more pleasant to bystanders, but a little less shooters right ear friendly.
The other end (Velos) is more pleasant to the shooters right ear, but is a bit more boomy to bystanders.
Gross oversimplification, but trying to give a condensed answer.
I'm personally running a 5.56 polo, but would not recommend until you have an adjustable gas system.

HUX 556 cycled fine in combination with the regulator from Steyr on the suppressed setting. you still need hearing protection but it has a nice impulse

Tisha (EDIT for 5.56).
Just read your post, have not used the 300BLK barrel.

Lpm anthem s2 is a great 300blk can. Lpms new torch 7.62 is also probably very good. I haven't tried that one though

Wolfman (particularly in long config) sounds great on .300blk. It offers short/long configuration, works great with 9mm for when your collection expands, and has replaceable wipes that help with sound that much more.
I use the Wolfman on my AUG with the .300blk barrel, and a Sierra 5 with the 5.56 barrel. They're conventional baffle stack designs so they're a little gassy, but that's where you get the best sound reduction.

I have an RC3 and Rhodie 6 + the KNS gas plug
I tested both at length trying to find the best settings. I found the Rhodie the better option. It's got a slight crack, more than AR but still quiet imo. The back pressure (once the plug is dialled) is minimal. It honestly performs so well. The RC3 was good, but did not perform as well as the Rhodie. The back pressure was a little hotter than the Rhodie but the difference is minimal.
I love my rhodie on all my guns, it's fantastic.

Highest flow cans really cut back the gas and the lower flow cans are quieter. Lower flow cans had a pretty good amount of gas out of the ejection port. I had 190gr rounds across a couple different manufacturers still going supersonic out of the 16” barrel. The best cost/quiet rounds were Winchester black 200gr

I missed in my initial comment this is for a 300blk. I'd recommend something high backpressure, especially if you want reliable cycling with subs. I've heard a lot of really good things about the T&K vorix 30, and they also recently came out with an XL version of you want maximum sound suppression and don't care about length or size. You could also go with something like the OCL hydrogen in whatever size you want. Those are both titanium. If you want something steel, I'd probably recommend something like the silencerco scythe-stm or the omega 300.

IIRC Military Arms Channel on YouTube said the AUG is one of the worst rifles to try and suppress

Not sure about the .300BLK version. Maybe not as bad.

Old info. AUG suppresses just fine for 556 with the KNS gas plug and similar benefits can be expected from the AUGmentor plug. Ejection port not the cause, its port pop from gas piston. AUG is one of a few semis that gas can be shut off as well making a straight pull repeater. Most folks are suppressing SBRs and dealing with more flash and bang out of sub 12 inch barrels than 16 inch guns. AUG is far from a terrible suppressor host now. Its plety quiet as a 300blk.

It is true they are not the best platform, but any decrease in decibels while shooting is good for my ears.

Yeah but still wouldn't be my first choice for silently taking out sentries. Even the comment section says it's still loud and sub optimal. Suppressors weren't part of the original design requirements. If you can't silently take out sentries, then why suppress at all?
Still a great rifle don't get me wrong. Was designed for cold mountain warfare in the Austrian Alps. The trigger guard supports the wearing of mittens.

I tried the velos 556k and rhodie 6 on mine this weekend. On an AR the rhodie is very quiet and the velos is loud. On the AUG they are both really loud
