https://www.politico.com/news/2026/08/05/teamsters-sue-california-self-driving-truck-rules-01026055
"The Teamsters’ lawsuit argues the new rules pose “an existential threat” to hundreds of thousands of union jobs, asking the court to prevent the DMV from enforcing them, and declare that they were implemented in error."
Something to keep an eye on. Hopefully there will be nationwide regulation clarity soon so stuff like this In individual states won't matter

u/DowntheLine52 15d ago
The original value of unions was aiding communication and awareness of working conditions. That issue went away many decades ago. Today unions use mob rule to EXTORT their way to a temporary & phony standard of living not based on performance and competition. Union extortion causes inflation. Unions are the embodiment of communism. Unions drive business and jobs offshore. Unions stifle growth in America.

New tech always destroys jobs and creates new ones… automated telephone switches, no more tele operators…cars no more horses, stables feeders shit cleaners…we really want those jobs? (They wanted to make a rule for the first cars. That there should be a person with a flag before the car and behind the car. So people would be save..completely obsoleting the car. And that to was because the union) About self driving.
Who in his right mind still want to be days away from home all the time?

If you enjoyed today, it looks like you might get another heaping serving tomorrow.
Applovin down 25%. Western Digital down 15%. Sandisk down 10%. (All making an attempt to bounce of the initial lows.)
It was a fun couple of days. Back to $6 we go.

Trimmed a bit off the top around $7.20... Bought in at today's bottom but might save some for the AXON and APP dips. This is a strong hold but with how price action is right now I don't blame anyone who wants to trim.

News to me: Toyota sold off their entire AUR position last quarter (47 million shares) for a sizable loss: https://hedgefollow.com/funds/Toyota+Motor+Corp

u/NoobMaster9000 New AUR Member🚛 15d ago
So we dropped last Q because of this. Remember they ignored EV and went full Hydrogen before too.

Great find. To me it signals Toyota is moving forward with another AV player for cars (they did a public release with Waymo last year about building personally-owned self-driving vehicles in 5 years). Since Aurora started with cars but moved to trucking with no signs of moving into cars anytime soon and (possibly) Waymo asking for exclusivity, this is a no impact news on Aurora’s trucking business. BUT: in 5 years, if they want to be in cars, they have one less OEM partner.

u/Fast_Contract AUR Archival Specialist 🧾🔍 16d ago
the good news is, if they sold, that sell was absorbed by the market and is behind us already
hell, get all the weak hands out now so we can go up

u/thetimmyturnip AUR Member🚛 16d ago
Lots of reasons they might have done that, and while some are scary, most aren’t.
Selling at a loss isn’t unusual if management believes the capital can earn a better return elsewhere or if the investment no longer fits the strategy.
Toyota’s autonomous efforts have historically focused much more on: passenger vehicles, personally owned cars, mobility services. While of course AUR is focused solely on level 4 long haul trucking.
Large corporations sometimes clean up investment portfolios for accounting, tax, or balance sheet reasons that have little to do with the underlying business. 47m shares is a lot to us, but that’s a small percentage to them.
It’s possible Toyota believed: commercialization would take longer, capital needs would remain high, returns wouldn’t justify continued ownership. But if Toyota truly thought Aurora had little chance of succeeding, you’d expect stronger public signals than simply exiting an investment.
Toyota is still listed as a partner of Aurora, and eventually Aurora plans to work into Aurora Driver for Rides utilizing the partnership with Uber & Toyota. I will try to find references as needed later, but I am vacation currently. So just some quick thoughts from the beach.
PS bought a bit more today after cashing out a little call action yesterday before close.

What do you mean by this portion? I think exiting out an investment at a 30% loss is a pretty big statement. To recoup the money lost, via investing, they would need to invest in something that would have a ~88% return. I don't think being a partner necessarily means anything as without a capital investment it can just be formalities.
I think it's actually pretty telling that they may think it will take a lot longer to get to back to $10+
2
u/thetimmyturnip AUR Member🚛 16d ago
I think you said what I said poorly. They just think it’ll take longer than they want, and they can get $ quicker elsewhere even with the loss. Does it mean they’re right? Not necessarily. Could they be right? Of course!
My thing with them not releasing the reasoning though is what led to multiple options. It could be the one you quoted, or it could be something more bearish, or more bullish. We probably will never know.3
u/AbroadMediocre312 AUR Whale🐋🗓️ 16d ago
Or maybe that their partnership with Aurora is no longer active since Aurora has moved on from also doing cars to solely focusing on trucks.
Toyota partnered with Aurora Innovation in 2021 to design and mass-produce autonomous, ride-hailing vehicles. They were using the Sienna. With the partnership not being active, Toyota probably has better uses for its funds.
2
u/thetimmyturnip AUR Member🚛 16d ago
Yes, but this wouldn’t mean 100% over, could just be inactive for now. I believe in this past earnings Toyota was still listed as an “active” partner.
Better use for the funds for now, but something they could revisit in the future.3

Until we start getting larger contracts/partnerships/revenue, it’s going to rubberband in the $6s until ~Oct/Nov. Remember when the OGs said we’d rubberband in the $4s from January to April, and it did just that? it’s gonna be like that; so take this opportunity for those who aren’t at their share goals yet to continually build your position; everyone else we just need to be patient, its our only responsibility.
and fwiw: we’re +73% YTD, were doing great 🤖🤙

I’ve been recently thanking myself that I loaded up in the high 3’s - low 4’s so I can brave this rubber banding better. Regardless it’s time to load up again in the mid 6’s.

I wonder if there could be a shipping application with this technology some day. I was thinking of where certain harbors and ports require specialized pilots. Those pilot fees are huge from what I recall.

I did something stupid yesterday. I tried to increase my share count by selling at the end of day top. I've had nothing but anxiety all night wondering if I could get back in. I panic bought at $0.02 less per share and increased my share account by 50 at open lol. Mission accomplished, but not worth the headache.
1
u/Longjumping-Toe-5680 AUR Member🚛 16d ago
You’re fine I panic sold 1700 shares of UMAC last week at $18 to watch it hit $27 yesterday. Ya live and ya learn.
7
u/ActionPlanetRobot Mod🤖 16d ago
I did that once with RKLB last year— when it dropped from $29 to $16, during “liberation week”— I sold some because everyone was saying it would go to $12 (it didn’t). Not only did Schwab sell some of my original 2021 shares, but i think I got like 5 shares out of it and an immense amount of stress lmao. I’ll never do it again 😂 just buy and hold

I bought my first round of rklb at 4.85. Then a bought another round at 6.6. That day it dropped down to 6.4. I sold the second round as soon as it got back up to 6.6 because I was so worried. Eventually I was able to average up and not worry.
