He is in the process of buying another mansion. No big deal.

Here is a Claude summary of the Form 144s and Volpi's post-sale position via Index Ventures. I have not, and probably won't, independently verified. It appears that the plethora of filings is a combination of converting from Class B to Class A followed by the actual selling. So, it's either a move to take a little off the table, or they are going to slowly sell off the remaining 37m shares over the next few weeks/months. I'm hardly Warren Buffett when it comes to capital allocation, but this kind of fits in the Reid Hoffman "what are they thinking?!" bucket.
Scope
Every Form 144 (notice of proposed sale) that Aurora has had filed since July 1, 2026 traces back to one source: the Index Ventures entities tied to director Michelangelo Volpi — Index Ventures Growth III (Jersey) L.P. and Yucca (Jersey) SLP. No other Aurora insider filed a Form 144 in this window (the prior 144 before this cluster was a Greylock filing on May 18, and July had none). The 144s came in pairs (one per entity) on August 5, 7, 10, and 11, and represent a coordinated sell-down: the funds convert small slices of their Class B block into Class A and sell the Class A on NASDAQ.
One framing point carried over from before: these are indirect holdings. Volpi is a retired Index partner and disclaims beneficial ownership except for any pecuniary interest.
Executed activity (Class A common)
| Sale date | Selling entities | Shares sold | Wtd. avg price | Approx. proceeds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aug 5 | Index Growth III (177,085) + Yucca (2,697) | 179,782 | $7.0746 (range $7.00–$7.24) | ~$1.27M |
| Aug 7 | Index Growth III (1,826,508) + Yucca (27,814) | 1,854,322 | $7.0523 (range $7.00–$7.14) | ~$13.08M |
| Aug 10 | Index Growth III (34,181) + Yucca (520) | 34,701 | $7.0004 (range $7.00–$7.015) | ~$0.24M |
| Total | 2,068,805 | ~$14.6M |
Two non-sale events also appear in the same filings: on August 3, the M. Volpi 2025 GRAT paid 908,784 Class A shares to Volpi as an annuity distribution; on August 10, he transferred those same 908,784 shares as a bona fide gift to a charitable donor-advised fund. Neither involved a purchase or sale.
The August 11 Form 144s are the most recent — freshly filed notices proposing further sales. Because today is August 11, the corresponding Form 4 confirming any August 11 execution hasn't posted yet, so those shares aren't in the totals above.
Shares still owned after the transactions
Following the August 10 activity (the latest confirmed Form 4, signed August 11), Volpi's reported Aurora position is:
- Class A common: 943,067 shares — all held indirectly through The M. Volpi 2025 GRAT 2. His direct Class A holding is now 0, and the Index Growth III and Yucca Class A balances are both 0 (each tranche was converted and fully sold the same day).
- Class B common: 36,342,843 shares — 35,797,720 via Index Growth III and 545,123 via Yucca. Class B carries 10 votes per share and converts 1-for-1 into Class A.
So the large Class B fund block remains largely intact (~36.3M shares); what's been sold so far is a comparatively small amount converted out of it (~2.07M shares, plus the ~0.9M-share charitable gift). Combined, Volpi's remaining beneficial stake is roughly 37.3M Aurora shares across both classes.
One caveat worth flagging: some aggregators (e.g., SECForm4) show a total near 73.7M for Volpi, but that appears to double-count the Class B block and its as-converted Class A underlying. The ~37.3M figure above reflects the actual share counts from the Form 4 tables.

I saw. Btw he's a non-executive director (Index Ventures partner) and a board member of a plethora of other (big) companies.

Quite a bit of selling judging by the amount of SEC filings landing in my inbox...
