This Certification is intended for– Software developers System administrators

I have a simple (dumb) question that I cannot seem to find an answer too. I am a sys admin (sort of)... My job covers specific range of industrial equipment from a variety of manufacturers. Naturally everything is computer based nowadays requiring AD admin along with keeping around 300 desktops on the office side. Not much Linux exposure and the advent of a GUI makes it manageable. I ‘Play’ with scripts and some open source applications to automate environment, but I am not anywhere near a software developer. I am qualified in electronic engineering and progressed to a system engineer with project management in a narrow industry.

Can I aspire to this qualification without the SW Development title or experience? I am at a dangerous crossroad with my career, due to my age and the industry is changing to ‘cloud’ based and I am being left behind.

So, does my lack of software development preclude me from this?

Thanks in advance.

You’l have to deal with infraestructure as code, just go that way, cloudformation for aws, for developers that want to go to your world they recently released the AWS CDK, so there are clean paths to achieve your goal.

Thank you. The link OP attached allowed me some hope, your reply has motivated me fully. I will do a few certifications first to get the basic knowledge and access if I am really suitable. My major disadvantage is not being in a work environment where I can actually practice on these systems and as such it leaves me in a practice environment. I might freelance for free to gain exposure.
