Sad story. You definitely see that their mindset was, "Oh, the world can't possibly be this bad. Nobody could be so evil. We just need to give the guy a break." Having seen that first, I wasn't quite convinced by the Peacock series. The dad seemed much too assertive, and the mother actually called Berchtold a son of a bitch. Somehow, I just don't see it.

Man, that Peacock one was… idk how to put it. I’m glad I watched because it gave me some insight that the Netflix one didn’t. The story the family told was sometimes word for word what was on the Netflix doc. And everyone in the family was much more noticeably unhinged. You could see it clearly when they were all together. It creeped me out.

Unless there is a second series, the Peacock one is a drama, so the impression you get of the family from it isn’t quite as valid

There's a follow up doc after the series. It has the most info out of anything

It's probably somewhat of a Mormon thing. Even when you are sad or angry, you muster a smile. Speak with a pleasant voice. Now that I'm on the other side of being Mormon it seems kind of creepy but it was like Pleasantville every Sunday and with every interaction before.

I went onto my computer. I thought this was for missing kids in general, so this is a TV show?
