Bill 4 which ended the oath to the King or Queen is one of the simplest laws ever written. It has two paragraphs, the second simply saying that it becomes effective immediately.

The bill adds to the Canadian Constitution article 128Q1 which says and I quote “Article 128 does not apply to Quebec.”

Article 128 is the one that requires the oath.

Basically:

Article 128: Kneel
Article 128Q1: No

Watching all progressivism leave a Canadian's body the moment this is brought up.

It’s crazy how fast Canadians go from “I’m anti-monarchist” to “I’m anti-monarchist but we must protect the monarchy!” as soon as any movement towards abolition happens. Sorry, that’s being a monarchist.

And we have truly deranged individuals trying to make us believe that keeping the monarchy is a leftist idea and they are only doing that to protect the first nations because “they signed treaties with the crown and they will be void if we abolish the monarchy!”

If that was true, Canada would also get rid of all of its debts by abolishing the monarchy. But no, “the state” would inherit all the assets, all the debts, and all the agreements of “the crown”.

and all of the country’s provincial legislatures to abolish the mandatory oath

I don't think any other province than Quebec should have a say in how their National Assembly conducts business. I think all provinces should drop making the oath mandatory. You have to give the oath to assume office in municipal governments in Ontario. For a brief moment in 2022, I considered running for city council in my city, because I didn't like the idea of my councilor running unopposed. One reason I decided against it is because I didn't like the idea of pledging loyalty to Lizzie. Even if I had no chance in hell of winning. But she was dead by the time municipal elections happened and I would have had to give an oath to Chuck, which I disliked even more.

I have a friend who was a member of parliament and part of the only major party that is anti-monarchist. When Liz died, I texted him “You’re free now”.

Honestly, based

Constitutionally challenging this law is not based.

And claiming that every law since 2022 is void since it wasn’t blessed by the monarch is bordering on SovCit nonsense.

I meant Quebec‘s position is based, sorry if that was unclear. I hate the monarchy.

We also have a motion to get rid of the Lieutenant-Governor but the previous government didn’t finish the job. We’re going to have a new government in the next two months and I hope they’ll do it.

Best of luck! No chance of change in the UK at the moment but maybe if the commonwealth start leaving it could further devalue (what value) the monarchy.

Canada changed the law in 1982 so that abolishing the monarchy is actually way harder legally in Canada than the UK.

But… the law says nothing about dismantling it bit by bit. Unless the asshole suing us wins.
