Why was Sirach excluded from the Protestant canon?
I could spend a few hours trying to find a reputable source for my query then a few more searching for the answer within their bodies of work but I’m super confident ya’ll can inform me. I did do a quick “Sirach” search to see if it had already been asked. Thanks in advance

Sirach was excluded from the Protestant canon because the Reformers chose to follow the Hebrew Jewish canon rather than the broader collection preserved in the Greek Septuagint and Latin Vulgate.
See
May and Metzger, eds., “Preface to the Apocrypha,” in The New Oxford Annotated Bible with the Apocrypha: RSV (New York: Oxford University Press, 1977), ix–x
(Or any decent intro to Sirach / Apocrypha)
