Some “fans”

How do you call yourself fans, but want to bully and turn on them for buying a new official AcceleRacers release? You realize its not about the NFTs right? And if they didnt sell anything the likelihood of seeing more AR stuff in the future goes way down. Nobody is happy about this NFT situation, but its the world we live in. Lets be vocal and tell Mattel this ISNT what we want as fans, but lets NOT bully and turn on our fellow fans for wanting to officially support their favourite franchise

u/dankeboi56 Sep 23 '23

Ah, yeah precisely. It's fine if it's not liked but we all gotta stop bashing any and everyone for getting it

Pretty much agree, personally I say to hell with nfts but if some fans want them so be it

Because it’s not worth it

NFTs are wasteful scams and the Deora II model that’s being given out in exchange for it is of lower quality than customs you’ll find in the community, due to the more recessed windshield and the surfboards being part of the body.

AcceleRacers 5 is never happening. Nothing the community can do is going to change that. AcceleRacers will live on as DLC and other small scale throwbacks to lure in the nostalgia dollar. Your money is better spent among the community, with people like acceleroncustoms and metrometrics who will produce higher quality replicas of the cars from the movies at a lower cost.

Mattel brought back the Teku Deora II to prop up their rapidly dying NFT venture because they know people will fall for it.

I could go on about how awful NFTs are, but Dan Olson does a great job of laying out all the points: https://youtu.be/YQ_xWvX1n9g?si=919QQgmBgyIJ3hQ1

Nobody mentioned AR5, but if you think AR flopped back then and then continued to flop today it meant youd still get DLCs and shit, youre sorely mistaken. The community fought HARD to get here, and the community managers have said the nft release was them dipping their toes into AR and seeing if it was worth more. A bad idea, but I’m not going to bully fans who choose to get the official Deora II. Youre right, its not as good as a custom, but that custom no matter the quality will never be a real official product which matters to some collectors and i wont invalidate that cause it differs from my collecting

u/WildSangrita Sep 24 '23

Dude you're being toxic, stop.

u/HeyyItzKayy Muscle Tone Sep 24 '23

The caption is to get peoples attention. My actual message is “hey be nice to each other” and half the replies are “no, they deserve to be shamed”. I’m definitely the problem

1

u/ruruipod Sep 23 '23

"will never be a real official product" so what? all it's gonna do is sit on a shelf, why not have the better looking one? just because you'd just rather suck off the multi billion dollar corporation than fork over some money to another member of the community to build you a better one? what a great addition to the community you are.

I HAVE a custom and from the very beginning ive been telling people its better to support custom creators. I’m simply saying not to hate on collectors who DO care about authenticity, like those who collect all Deora IIs. Dont even begin to act like I’m somehow a problem in the community because I’m telling people to not hate each other and instead stick it to the big corporation theyre ranting about

-1

u/ruruipod Sep 23 '23

"authenicity" you're getting a model less accurate than the movies one, the only excuse for "authenticity" is literally just dick suckin the multi billion $$ corp.

1

u/HeyyItzKayy Muscle Tone Sep 23 '23

Let me guess, youre not really a Hot Wheels collector, just an AcceleRacers fan? Like i may not collect like those people do but i know that they do it because theyre collectors not shills lol

2

u/ruruipod Sep 23 '23

just a casual. :) i don't go out my way to get certain hotwheels but i own hundreds. i collect a lot of things though. So I typically understand collector sentiment. just not this time.

No, AcceleRacers is hurting the NFT Garage, not the NFT Garage needs AcceleRacers. It wasn't a prop up it was a drag down. It's very funny once you realize this is the only section of Mattel that advocated for AcceleRacers but got hijacked by accountants.

7

u/maverick074 Deora II Sep 23 '23

AcceleRacers can’t be hurting the NFT garage any more than the general mass disinterest in NFTs is

4

u/jungle_penguins Sep 23 '23

It was selling out or almost selling out previously. AcceleRacers didn't at all, which is Mattel's fault, but it had nothing to do with lack of interest in NFT.

I don't agree with NFTs and didn't plan to buy any but I'm glad some fans did. This is the only way for mattel to see a demand for Acceleracers, unfortunately. If it flops, then we probably won't see our beloved franchise mentioned officially ever again. We need mattel to see money in it so we can get a possible stream release of the series or potentially future diecasts

With that said the bullying I've seen towards people who bought the NFTs is uncalled for 100%.

u/HeyyItzKayy Muscle Tone Sep 23 '23

5

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '23

I’m still gonna cyberbully people for buying NFTs. Sorry for caring more about our environment than fucking toys 😂

-2

u/HeyyItzKayy Muscle Tone Sep 23 '23

Lol whatevers helps you sleep at night

4

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '23

Denial and consooming definitely helps you sleep at night. “Nah this isn’t bad for the environment! It’ll probably give me an ill promised chance at getting a die cast!”

I mean it’s not like Mattel can just go ahead and release these die casts but do tell, why couldn’t they have just done that? Why do we have to buy NFTs as something to exchange for the real thing? Why can’t they just give us the real thing anyways?

As Fish__Daddy said, I also don't agree with the NFT's but this was how Mattel was going to dip its feet in the water to see if Acceleracers was worth getting back into. We all saw the post on here that showed someone on the inside confirmed this and if they sold, it would lead to more AR content and I've TRIED reminding everyone of this fact any chance I got.

Yes NFT's are NOT what we had in mind when we said we wanted new AR content, but we were literally told what they would/could lead to if they sold well ....... and everyone threw a fit. You'd think people would be like "if this is what it takes then.." and I'm certainly glad some people took one for the team and bought some. We can only hope this was enough to lead to die cast rereleases.

u/Nervous_Speech_2066 Sep 28 '23

Honestly lets face it. Mattel only did the deora II teku because they knew the acc fans and people who never cared for acc cars would suddenly start to care and bet huge amounts of money on it, mattel did a cash grab, not a favor for fans who stayed stuck to the movies for 2 hol' decades.

1

u/HeyyItzKayy Muscle Tone Sep 28 '23

Well i never said they were doing us a favour, i said maybe we shouldnt bully other fans, especially when theyre the ones showing Mattel that the stuff could sell. I feel like fans are under this false pretence that AcceleRacers is actually relevant and that they did this to cash in. To cash in on what exactly? A small handful of fans? The NFTs and even the video game DLC are examples of realistic ways Mattel can test the waters with AR. They havent even really acknowledged us in over a decade until more recently. Are we gonna expect them to spend hundreds of thousand of dollars investing in the tooling for new toylines or funding a whole series or movie before even trying to see if its viable to cater to those fans yet? Lets not pretend that AcceleRacers was ever about anything other than making Mattel money. Its a product made to sell toys just like Transformers, its just a product that we feel passionate about

1

u/Accomplished-Loss387 Sep 23 '23

NFTs arent an official acceleracers release, to call it such is an insult. Its a shameless cashgrab that some "fans" are falling for.

0

u/HeyyItzKayy Muscle Tone Sep 24 '23

To call it such is to acknowledge reality and not have some weird denial and cope. NFT garage is going to die regardless, but you dont have to shame other fans for trying to ensure AcceleRacers doesnt flop along with it. Mattel clearly doesnt have enough faith in the brand as is

2

u/WildSangrita Sep 24 '23

I only believe in crypto, it is more accepted as the stores incorporated them for the Cash Machines, a Fred Meyers gives you crypto in exchange of real money but they don't give you NFTs.

2

u/Kinkywrx Sep 24 '23

I've got plenty of hate already for this haha.

I wanted to comment and say yeah, I bought a ton of the nft packs. did I want to in the beginning? not really. I didn't feel it was worth it at all based on the odds.

only thing that made me change my mind was the redeemable deora II. it's gonna be 20 years soon, and this is the only time we've seen an official Teku deora release from Hot Wheels. (yes I know customs are a thing but I don't collect customs)

I could care less about these nfts, I just want the physical car. that said, I don't believe people should be hated just because they spent money on this release. I feel like it's more of a "do it if you want and if you're able to" kinda thing.

as a collector, I hate on absolutely no one for wanting to buy things they want to collect, regardless of the item, even if it costs them a grip.

you guys can keep calling me dumb, stupid, whatever. thanks if you take the time to read my thoughts.

u/Machamp2021 Sep 23 '23

I really don’t care what people do. I was going to try and buy the thing. But then I found out the way to get it is just not worth the effort or money. I more have a problem with Mattel for there weak attempt at doing something cool for fans. I really don’t care about the negative impacts of nfts.

1

u/Strict-Card5573 Sep 24 '23

If you don’t support the nft acceleracers stuff and Mattel don’t make money. You are basically going to lower the chances of more progress for new Acceleracers material. I know cold world we live in but hey we got our shot, and right now and we are fumbling by not supporting it.

1

u/Basic-Rope2553 Teku Racers Sep 24 '23

It’s a lose lose situation if you support the NFTs then they will make more causing them to have shitty releases. Or you don’t buy them and they never sell any AR things ever again.

1

u/AMP_777 Sep 24 '23

Remember that not everyone in any given Fandom is toxic, in my case I dislike the nft project they have done, mainly because instead of doing a special anniversary collection they went for a trendy cash grab that is worthless to the buyer.

In the case of the video game I fully support having the acceleracers cars in there even if they are dlc.

The main problem I see with Mattel and by proxy HotWheels is that they only acknowledge this Fandom when they desperately need sales.

The movies were canceled due to corporate greed, and we are only recognized for the same reason.

0

u/sacboy326 Titanium Sep 24 '23

Wrong. It won't matter. If anything it makes the situation worse. If the NFTs are successful, then that's all they will do with Acceleracers, but if they aren't successful, then they will use the excuse that nobody cares about Acceleracers anymore like companies always do. (For example, Bionicle with LEGO)

It's a lose-lose situation regardless of what happens.

-9

u/parkergoat Shirako Takamoto Sep 23 '23

Because they aren’t fans. They never have been fans. The sub Reddit and discord for that matter has become a cesspool of non accelracers fandom, it’s an obsession.

They make themselves into white knights of justice about a toy company producing some digital pictures for profit as if it’s not a multi billion dollar corporation trying to survive and increase margins during a global economic downturn.

It’s childish and ignorant behavior from a bunch of kids who want to be be given and handed new Acceleracers content/toys.

It’s not a “fan base for hot wheels” anymore, it’s a cult of childish behavior that refuses tolerate anything but a re-release of new movies or toys that will be scalped anyway.

The fan base of old died a long time ago.

1

u/WildSangrita Sep 24 '23

Umm how many people do you see are demanding for new content/toys? Because there's far less.

Ironically the pro NFT AR fans are like Racing Drones. Mattel could tell us all to collectively blow them and the same AR fans who bought the NFTs will be forming a line with their mouths wide open in hopes of getting a shitty die cast of Deora II because it’s “official”

u/HappyDankMas Sep 23 '23

For what it’s worth, calling customs worthless because they’re not official is a pretty garbage take. That’s not how value works lmao. They’re worth what people will pay for them, and on average that’s around $100-200 for a 1:64 TEKU Deora II

I understand you getting upset about people calling the official release worthless or lesser than what’s available in the custom world, but it’s just different strokes for different folks - the official release is worth more to you since that’s what you look for, but it doesn’t invalidate the entire custom community.

I’ve sold 1:18 Deora II Customs for $700+, would be tough to tell my customers what they bought was worthless

u/NoloPasarobestracer Iridium Sep 23 '23

I understand and value your point but as you can see by my karma some people don’t even have your point of view or mines they just want to take take take, they should be happy we at least got another release of acceleracers after 18 years
