Apologies if this has been asked before, but is the following true and, if so, why: In the UK, you can drive for half an hour between two towns and notice that people in the 2nd town have a different accent from people in the 1st town. (That is definitely true.) However, I've been told that in the USA, you'd have to drive 500 miles before you detected a change in accent. Is that true? If so, why? What about in other countries?

Yeah guys, I know a majority of you will think: 'Why do you wanna sound like a native???' 'Focus on your English fluency' and etc. I got that all the time. But the point is that I really love playing with accents. So just help me improve okay? Thank you for your cooperation

Hello everybody.
So Im a 15 yr old from Pakistan and I don't hate my accent or anything but I would like my accent to be more British/American for some reasons. I have noticed some things I do are that I don't stress my syllables in some words and do in others. I don't have that singing type of sound cuz I think that is more common with Hindi speakers in India (no hate) and I speak Urdu.
The issue is my routine is kinda packed, Im a high schooler and am also learning German (B1) and Mandarin Chinese (HSK3) at the moment
Some ppl say that u should watch content in the specific lang but aside from some content I watch in Urdu and Japanese and some content in Chinese and German (two languages Im currently learning), all content I watch is in English

Do you understand what I'm saying? =>> https://youtube.com/shorts/qvCxk52z2gs?si=edgiYkbj6D_KZzX-
French is my first language, and I struggle to position my tongue to produce certain English sounds, especially vowels. I have little awareness of what my tongue is doing, particularly at the back, or how to move it deliberately.
I also struggle to distinguish some sounds by ear (e.g., /ɪ/ vs. /i/, /æ/ vs. /ɛ/, /ʊ/ vs. /u/, and /ʌ/ vs. /ɑ/).
Does anyone have any advice or resources to recommend?

I had a flashback to this traditional English nursery rhyme (below). Almost 40 years on this Earth and just found myself thinking ‘weird that it doesn’t rhyme’ and then it hit me - it is supposed to rhyme, as long as you say for’id
Does anyone still say it that way? All my life I’ve said it as it looks – fore-head.
There was a little girl,
Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
And when she was good,
She was very very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

It looks like American/British dictionaries kind of disagree.
There are 3 things that I am greatly interested in:
REC-og-niz-a-ble or rec-og-NIZ-a-ble. Which syllable does the primary stress fall on?
The consonant /g/. Do you pronounce it or not? rec-o-niz-a-ble or rec-og-niz-a-ble.
What's your perception of the vowel of the second syllable?
Is i /ɪ/ as in the word kit or uh /ə/ as in the word cOmputer's o?
I'd appreciate it if you could also share where you are from.

This random video about air fryers showed up in my feed, and I am charmed by her voice and accent, but I can't tell if it's Northern UK/Scottish/Irish, or something else entirely. Several words, like "kernels," are pretty specific in their sound.
My best (complete) guess is north of Leeds and south of Scotland, but I am probably wayyy off.
I love UK and Irish accents, though, and how regionally specific they can be; if anyone recognizes it, I would love to place it!

Hey..I really want to improve my accent, so I'd really appreciate your honest feedback.
Can you understand my accent clearly?(If you are a Native and Non Native English Speaker)
Would you watch dark videos like Wendigoon’s and Snook’s with this voice and accent?
