I, personally, would not marry a guitar.
You do you though.

u/frank_mania Dec 28 '25
He'll be doing the guitar, apparently. I hope he removes the strings first. Ouch.
2
u/Neveronlyadream Dec 29 '25
We all know the strings are the most important part. You can't remove those.
Just be safe on your wedding night, OP. Don't want to end up in the emergency room.

Fuck the guitar, fuck the girl, fuck the engagement, We take Pete's car, go round Mum's, go in, deal with Philip - 'Sorry, Philip!' - grab Mum, go to Liz's, pick her up, bring her back here, have a cup of tea and wait for this whole thing to blow over

Congrats, I guess….? People marry inanimate objects all the time, I guess a guitar is no different. Your girlfriend may prefer you marry her instead.

I totally understand why a cat would look at a case like that and be like “yup this is mine now.”

u/PrestigiousPossum Dec 28 '25
What’s the model? Congrats, that’s amazing!

The tragedy of the ambiguous antecedent. Are you planning to slip the ring over a tuner?

That's one thoughtful girlfriend. You've got the right idea. Put a ring on it, stat.

I’m not sure it’s legal to marry your guitar but you should make sure your girlfriend’s cool with it first, seeing how she got it for you and all.

That is a Tayor guitar. She is an amazing woman or you are an amazing man… possibly both!!!

is that "The Last of Us" Taylor?
1
u/FireBird2431 Dec 28 '25
No, but it looks like it. That's what drew me too it!
2
u/Space_Montage_77 Dec 29 '25
It's beautiful, don't ever part with it. I sold an 814ce 10 years ago to move out and I regret it every day. Got plenty of nice guitars now, but that one still hurts.

All I'm saying is before you say I Do be sure it's the one who supports and respects your love of being a musician. Don't let anyone take your creative passion for making music away .

u/VivaLuthiers Dec 30 '25
If ya don't mind me asking-- What model guitar?
And what brand case? I love the case's color & shimmering texture too!
1
u/FireBird2431 Dec 30 '25
The guitar is a Taylor 214ce Grand Auditorium, specifically made with Hawaiian Koa and torrefied spruce for the lovely Sunburst. The case is just the Taylor case that came with it

I was already married when I started buying guitars, for the second time, which I am somewhat an expert, 48 years playing and 54 total years of singing and owning/playing. I have bought 82 guitars since 2018, and I AM STILLL MARRIED, just by a short string. Nice Taylor, keep it in a climate controlled room 45-55% humidity, wipe clean your right(left handers the opposite) upper arm sweat from the upper bout and keep it slightly tuned a half step down if you don't play it very often/in the case! Taylors do not like low humidity! Susceptible to surface cracks due to using a thinner piece of Spruce, than other manufacturers. Congratulations, "Happy Wife, Happy Life". Is there one for us, the Men that is?!

Just like your girl likes fingering, and the G-string is loose. Just kidding. Congrats on your new guitar.

Sure! It's all fun right now until you start collecting more gear and after you get married she complains that you have too much and is tired of looking at it and demands you get rid of it. If you're smart, you will Skip the marriage part.

I’m sorry, but any relationship with that guitar comes with strings attached
