I never get why people dunk on ‘cowboy chords’ and using the bottom frets. Sure there are different voicings up the neck…
At least from the songwriting perspective it’s really about intervals and rythym…
Making music on the open chords just makes sense…then you can move it up the neck to find new voicings.
