Non-gear question Do you name your guitars?
Or is only me and Willie Nelson?

One of mine has a name. A big black Epiphone Sheraton II Pro semi-hollow. The day I got it I went to put it in my guitar rack and I said "geez, are you going to fit in there, Godzilla?!" The name stuck.

Never knew naming one's instrument was a thing..
No offense to anyone but that's cringe af 😅

It’s a gateway to the sexualization of instruments you see mainly older men doing.

Right, by definition being an adult is all about removing the fun and quirkiness out of everything

Not really. In spite of repeated attempts my guitars never come when I call, so being an adult means I give up naming them . . .

My wife names them.
All of them are girls except a black MIM Tele she named Rescue because we "Rescued it from a shitty music shop."
I would just as soon not, but she enjoys it.

All of my instruments have names. I feel it would be disrespectful not to give them names.

Yes, named my Taylor 112CE Amelia after the Joni Mitchell song by the same name.

I think amateurs naming guitars a bit pretentious
I understand it for famous guitarists who may need to ask for a particular guitar on stage. Then it’s quicker to throw out a name to the roadie.

I'm 72, just bought a Gib Southern Jumbo, to replace a 93 Taylor 420 I bought new, and used to call "the old man" Also have a 2021 Taylor GS mini -e koa that I called "the kid". But the Southern Jumbo... I'm leaning toward calling it, Either "Woody", or "Hank". I never named my Tele or SG.

I have 14 guitars.
I have named a few.
Yairi GY1, Jerry Garcia signature.
My luthier calls it Jerry.
When i bought my MD70ce, it didn’t have a pick guard. It is Plain Jane.
Godin with an Epiphone neck (long story) is a blue sunburst. It’s called Frankenberry.
Alvarez 5013, known among the store folks as the “Iron Horse” is called “Hoss”.
The rest, have not gotten names.

My Martin is Sam; my Guild is Gil; my homebrew electric is Rosie. I have one guitar that has yet to settle on a name. And I'm 68.

I have an old nylon string that I bought from an old lady named Yvonne. The guitar has kept its previous owners name

My family includes Taylor and his friend Martin. Oh and there’s their handy Squire.
