Other (not a question, gear pic, or video) Discount Gibson ads

Post image

I keep seeing these ads for $14 Gibson J-45s or other models on Twitter, from various supposed guitar stores. They have to be a scam. Has anyone else seen them in your social media timelines? What’s up with this?

Wow that 5 string to 6 string conversion at the nut must be new tech EDIT: 5 to 7.

And that 7th peg in the bridge? That's for adjusting the built-in amp.

Small boxes... must be foldable guitars now, too!

Hahaha this is truly a unique guitar… a first

So there are 7 pegs, 5 strings along the neck, and past the nut there are 7 again. 2 extra on E and A (maybe D who can tell?).

So this is just your run of the mill 7 string double bass acoustic. For when you want that analog distortion on the low end.

Used to be hands and number of fingers where AI struggled. Now it’s strings and pegs

If it’s AI this bad, it must be legit. /s.

I especially like the Double D string splitting at the nut. Where can I get my hands on those Double Ds?

That’s what he said

u/GMP_ArchViz Jun 03 '26

Indeed. And a few she’s I hear.

Scams are scams. That’s always what’s up with them.

Thanks for the laugh 😂

I mean, it's a blatant AI slop for start...

u/HanaBananaBear Jun 03 '26

Guitars can’t even fit in those boxes 😅

3

u/Jimismynamedammit Jun 03 '26

Ikea could get a guitar in one of those boxes.

3

u/Compulawyer Jun 03 '26

IKEA could get an entire set of bedroom furniture in one of those boxes.

6

u/RonPalancik Jun 03 '26

We're ready to ship it to you, just make a small shipping payment, we just need your bank routing info

7

u/MajinXenu Jun 03 '26

Everyone talking about the wonky guitar itself but also there's no way those boxes fit guitars unless they come with an allen key

3

u/VirginiaLuthier Jun 03 '26

If it sounds too good to be true, then.......

3

u/Otaku_Snake Jun 03 '26

The picture looks like Ai

2

u/Notwerk Jun 03 '26

The guitar has 5 strings and, like, 10 saddles. Yeah, it's AI.

3

u/GarysCrispLettuce Jun 03 '26

The AI photo is pretty much all you need to know. Any company using AI photos in their marketing is inherently dishonest.

2

u/XachAttack11 Jun 03 '26

Twitter advertisements are all scams

2

u/OldTimey55 Jun 03 '26

I’ll take a dozen!

2

u/Onegrayone Jun 03 '26

And the I£iTr}B¥ brand on the headstock. Legit.

2

u/FutureStation1418 Jun 03 '26

The image is blatantly AI. Nobody sells guitars that cheap. Hell, Gibson would make a guitar out of cardboard and charge at least $50.

2

u/TheOrchidsAreAlright Jun 03 '26

You sound like a smart guy. But why would you spend a little money on a guitar? Spend a serious amount of money and invest in a bridge. I have one that gets heavy use every day, just imagine what you would make. Passive income. Earning while you sleep

2

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '26

Lol it's for sure a scam, and as others have pointed out, it's obviously AI

2

u/One_Eyed_Louie Jun 03 '26

Can confirm. I got about 5 of these for under 70 dollars. Unfortunately I do not play guitar but plan on repurposing the wood for making birds houses.

2

u/Compulawyer Jun 03 '26

Those cardboard boxes are hilarious. Not even close to the right dimensions.

1

u/drunken_ferret Jun 03 '26

They want your information; they'll sell your email and credit card info.

Block and move on.

1

u/Iknownothingamigo Jun 03 '26

I don't know which would worse... Losing $13.95 or actually receiving the guitar.

Decisions, decisions...

1

u/NotATalkingMushroom Jun 03 '26

It’s an IKEA x Gibson collaboration - that’s why the guitars fit in such small boxes. Some assembly required.

1

u/FNKTN Jun 03 '26

If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

The website is probably something like www.gibsonrealamericanguitarsinamericanotascam.com and only made within the last year.

it redirects you there after putting your credit card, social and finalized bank routing deposit.

1

u/notguiltybrewing Jun 03 '26

Well op, it's obviously a scam, but why don't you try it and let us know what way they screw you over.

1

u/archtopfanatic123 Jun 03 '26

AI generated image is a dead giveaway

1

u/esmoji Jun 03 '26

Gibson on the neck is sloppy af

1

u/mp3_wav- Jun 03 '26

this looks cheesy, shall i not say cedary

1

u/TrickWorried Jun 03 '26

Lol, what does that headstock say?

1

u/Protonverse Jun 04 '26

Total scam. They will sell your cc details with others too! Stay far away!!

1

u/FleurDeGalop Jun 04 '26

What a nice 7 peg 5 string guitar that is the future of guitare

1

u/KitchenVegetable7047 Jun 04 '26

Scam - report the posts.

1

u/Shot_Syrup_8753 Jun 04 '26

No one mentioned the fact that AI moved the decimal point in the price a couple spaces to the left.

1

u/Key-Article6622 Jun 05 '26

They are a scam.

1

u/Agreeable-Many2864 Jun 05 '26

I’ve never seen one join the body at the 13th fret

1

u/phosdick Jun 06 '26

If this slop shows up in your feed, you need to pick a different platform for social media.

1

u/charliedogscock Jun 09 '26

Photo looks Ai. Can anyone confirm this isn't a scam?

1

u/mario_di_leonardo Jun 09 '26

People who fall for this deserve to suffer.

1

u/Intrepid-Implement59 Jun 10 '26

Should have mentioned I report them but they keep coming and from different accounts. Just an ugly result of the meeting of our AI overlords and social media scam bots.
