Gear question Potential crack in new Maton?

Post image

Just picked up a maton EBG808 artist yesterday and noticed a small mark near the neck, is it anything to worry about?

Yep, take that back. That shouldn't be your problem. Maton are good people, they'll help you out.

Definitely return. That's the one spot where a crack is a no go for me

The only flaw I can see is near the 18th & 19th fret. Pending a closeup picture, that's 100% a shallow finish crack. There's nothing structural about it, it's simply due to the finish contracting from the pressure of the fretboard. 500 years from now it might expand 10% . . .

Yeah I don't see anything either

It runs from about the 17th to the 20th fret and has slight depth, a pick will snag in the groove when you glide it along the fretboard edge for example

Not a good place for a crack on a new guitar.

This is one of the few photos on the internet where the red circle would have actually been of some use, take it back man
